I see no problem with having several 'red 1's around... mission builders should take better care of this and prevent double using then.

Leaving aside for a moment radio-calls (which would need new voice recordings), numbers on planes taking off should not be sequential. Some examples:
Russian squadron: 1 – 39; 27 – 54.
RAF squadron: K – F; W – E.
In this way, if you’re flying a dynamic career, and aircraft 39 or F-Freddy get lost, some time should pass before they are replaced.
Talking of dynamic career, I would like to see them updated. Here in forums we have a high density of online flyers and custom mission builders, but many Il2 customers fly offline.
