I'm a bit disappointed the recon triggers will not be coming out with 4.09 official, this would be the most interesting thing to myself and long time friend Paul Lowengrin author of DCG.
the following is a bit of .. errr .. speculation, though a repeat of what Blackdog said earlier in some respects: 1. Oleg may be interested in keeping IL-2 interest up until SoW engine and BoB is released. It is free advertising for SoW because most find out about SoW / BoB because they have IL-2. IL-2 1946 is still selling, largely to people interested in the available mods and online players because it is the *only* version to have for mods and online play at Hyperlobby. Now it might not mean a whole lot of money to 1C, but it's obviously enough that Oleg and his team can continue working on SoW. IL-2 is not competition to SoW engine or BoB. SoW engine, even after release, will take considerable time, maybe years to make other full featured large scope simulations from .. which comes to my 2nd point. 2. Oleg *might* be looking for new development teams to work with the SoW engine, and what better way to for such a group to prove themselves than to work first with the IL-2 engine ? .. just speculating, but it wouldn't surprise me that Team Diadalos' motivation for doing work to finish 4.09 is that they have then have established a good working relationship with Oleg, proven their abilities to develop, and therefore will be working with the SoW engine. A proven IL-2 developer, Ilya's RRG Studios, is already working on an SoW engined "Project Galba". Last edited by WWFlybert; 08-21-2009 at 08:07 PM. Point 2 is matching the reality situation almost perfectly, regarding our relationship with Oleg. Working for SoW later (much probably commercial) carries indeed some motivation. But currently, there is no definite decision - not even discussions about this. We are focused on Il-2 projects and the name Team Daidalos is completely dedicated to Il-2 as long as it makes any sense to us. It also depends on how much and what kind of feedback we will get for 4.09. But already from the feedback from the interviews alone I'd say, its worth some more workload. ![]() Quote:

Currently we have SkindDownload values: 0 (off), 1 (on). Would be nice to have this reworked: 0 (off), 1 (custom regiment signs on), 2 (custom regiment sign and skin on). That would give compromise between required bandwidth and customization.
Also, some default skins must be fixed. Gray BF109s or green FWs do not look nice over the desert. ![]() |

Ok, so there seems to be some confusing and/or conflicting information out there regarding 4.09.
Possibly someone at 1C and/or Daedelus can now step in to provide info or clarify the following: 1. Where is the official announcment from 1C regarding 4.09 ? 2. Where is the official announcment from Daedelus regarding 4.09 ? 3. Where is the official announcment from 1C regarding the content of 4.09 ? 4. Where is the official announcment from Daedelus regarding the content of 4.09 ? The estimated release date is another question. That could be provided as a courtesy from either group if they wish but not neccesary. What I am looking for is official information from the devs so I can avoid reading multiple threads and posts full of speculation and bickering. If 4.09 is serious at all , or will become serious , then for the sake of being consistent with other software developers there should be some official news releases. The announcements on content may not exactly match the official release when it comes out , but of course , as we see with other software devs , they release as accurate a list as they can as timely as possble leading up to the release date. If some or all of this information can be provided , then the consumer can judge the validity of this project and determine nearly where the version stands in development. I think with the level of support for il2 and 1C , that a basic courtesy to the loyal customers would be for 1C or Daedelus to state 4.09 is in either one of the following stages: Pre-Alpha Alpha Beta Release Candidate RTM Thanks for your cooperation . - Eries |

Eries,
Information about 4.09 becoming official and Diadalos Team's involvement comes from this SimHQ interview with Oleg and Martin http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_420a.html It must be between finished and beta, because there already is released 4.09 beta ![]() |

Hence the confusion........ Please read my post carefully. I asked for this information FROM 1C OR DAEDELUS , so my requests are not intended to be answered by the readers here. That is why I requested "official announcements " from 1C or Deadelus. I'm assuming Daedelus has an official spokesperson that can speak on thier behalf , representing a single source of reliable and non-conflicting information. I assumed that was the reason for this thread , to provide a mechanism for communications from Daedelus. Those are the only two assumptions that I can reasonably make regarding 4.09 . I'll wait for the official announcements before considering 4.09 or any of its content a legitimate product. WWFlybert: 1C of course released a 4.09 beta. Consider now the implications of Olegs interview and that Daedelus 4.09 may contain considerable more or less than the 1C 4.09 release. This precludes the assumption that the Daedelus 4.09 is in the BETA stage. It would be common , proper and expected that once Daedelus began thier development , that the revision would revert to an ALPHA. Thanks in advance , Eries Last edited by Eries; 08-24-2009 at 07:28 PM. |

Eries,
No cause for contention or assumptiveness here, I was only linking to the best available information for you. You asked 4 questions of "Where" official announcements are. Answer to all 4 .. they do not yet exist with specificity. It is obvious to me 4.09 official is a work in progress. "I assumed that was the reason for this thread , to provide a mechanism for communications from Daedelus." Why that assumption ? .. this thread was not started by Daidalos Team "I'll wait for the official announcements before considering 4.09 or any of its content a legitimate product." Good for you Eries, patience is a virtue ![]() My logic comes to different "assumptions" however I consider what Oleg and Martin say in the interview to be "official", and read carefully, there is no contradiction between the interview and what has been said elsewhere by Daidalos Team, only clarification of misreading of the interview. For instance, I misread that the recon triggers would be included in 4.09 release, however with careful reading, that is not what was said. I have worked with software as well, if something is "beta" and it is being worked on to become "final" .. it is still "beta" .. I don't understand why you think Daidalos Team would be starting over again at "Alpha", nor why they would follow a naming convention of release that I have only seen Microsoft use. And even then, 4.09 is an update to existing, fully legitimate and finished product. Regardless, it is an unexpected and happy surprize to IL-2 1946 customers that 4.09 will be finished, and other good features may be added to the game. Daidalos Team is under no obligation to answer anyone's questions here or elsewhere, that they might do so, is a courtesy I thank them for. Last edited by WWFlybert; 08-24-2009 at 09:40 PM. |

Agian....Please respect that my post is a question for the devs and not a post intended for commentary from users here. Just as in real life when you are seated at a table where two folks are having a conversation you can hear, its not always appropriate or courteous to begin commenting without an invitation to join , though certainly the ability is there. To provide a good mechanism for Daedelus and 1C to review and comment on users input , please refrain from burying this post behind commentary on its content. If you have concerns about the content of my posts , please address them via pm to me. This will allow this thread to remain focused on the use it was intended for. once again , your cooperation is greatly appreciated, Eries |

Hello Eries,
i'm happy you're interested in our work. Before i proceed,i want to correct you a little. First of,we are Daidalos Team, and not Daedelus. Second,1C is not the one that has to make any type of announcements.1C is IL-2 publisher for Russia, and Maddox Games is the game developer. So now to answering your questions. Quote:

A-We are very busy with 4.09 final and our other developments. B-Our website is currently under construction, but as soon as it is back online we'll post links to it here and on other locations. There too you will be able see again the official announcements regarding our further developments and the developments of IL-2 like all,and many other things as well. Regarding what you said about missing things in 4.09 release. Some things won' be included in 4.09,yes.But they will be released in the next patch, because we have still more content to add and iron out. I read on a couple of occasions in your posts, regarding the seriousness of Daidalos Team and the legitimation of our products. Well I'll give you just one hint, and you can answer to your question by yourself. Daidalos Team successfully implemented the FuG series radar and radar like all into a modern flight simulator.No-one have ever tried this. It was a real adventure for DT to do this, because there was a lack of information. It was very hard to find original FuG 220 drawings and schematics,in order to see how this radar actually operated, because it was considered top-secret at the time by the German government and taking any photos of it were highly prohibited. The second adventure for DT was implementing it in-game.Because we didn't had any example anywhere,in order to see how possibly we can implement this radar properly in a game. But still,we succeeded. Now thanks to doing this, many night-fighters will be added in-game.FW-190 A-6/R-11,P-61 Blackwidow, etc.Because we found the formula how to create the different types of radars. I hope that now, when you're properly informed, you'll understand. DT is doing everything possible to release the 4.09 patch and 4.10 patch as soon as possible. But you have to understand that the good things are not happening fast. We're working even at our work or vacance places in order to finish the patches as soon as possible, without any bugs and issues. Best regards, Bulgarian.
