Why don't you power it via usb, directly?

Would kind of make my purchase of a wireless headset rather silly ;)

Hi,
i got one of these small Solar thingies from a friend as a gift and tested it for this. It works great for the Trackclip Pro to make it "wireless"...Tried it to recharge my mobilephone with it but it doesn`t work, so took it for my Trackclippro and G930 to make the whole thing "wireless".
Something like this, there are alot of those things around to buy, the cheapest ones should do the job great for ur purpose:
http://www.amazon.de/August-SPC-1500-Ersatzakku-Taschenlampe/dp/B003076OQE/ref=sr_1_15?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1326366462&sr=1-15
Works great even in a completely dark room with only ur Monitor as a light source...wondered myself why, but it still produces energy to keep it working...
U even don`t need the Solarcells to look into the Lightsource, my one is looking straight up and still works fine...
It`s small and easy fix on the G930...
- its cheap
- no recharging because of Solar
- works even with minimum light and produces more then enough energy
- not heavy
- no batteries needed because the light is ur energy source
- Works perfectly for the Trackclip pro
Just a hind, give it a try, it´s maybe the cheapest try to get all this to work how u want - "wireless"...
Cheers BBS

I am not so sure this LED is the end of all things. I used it, but the results were rather suboptimal. I got much, much better movement tracking with the reflectors.
I used those reflectors in two ways.
Once on a baseball cap with the reflectors positioned ontop the... (no idea what it is called in english, the part protecting your eyes from the sun)
The other way stuck to the bow of my headphones.
That method produced the best results by far which, imho, is no wonder, as in this case your reflector is directly located on your head's twist axis.
However, to get best results here you need the reflector raise a centimeter or two above that headphones bow, else it will be hidden by your own head once you move the head up.
Some headphones have an extended bow that is just perfect for that, like this one:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51uGxQadS9L._SL500_AA300_.jpg
Without, as in the case of the G930, you have to build something yourself to get the same result. My first method was quick and dirty. I folded a sheet of paper to a size roughly the equivalent of the TrackIR clip, placed it ontop of an old eraser and put this combo ontop of my headphones simply attaching it with duct tape. Looked silly, but worked perfectly.
Now I use a self made wireframe following the same setup logic, but with the added benefit of it being freely attachable to the headphones. If you need help here I am more then willing to lend a hand, though I am sure you will figure something out yourself.

Well I prefer the trackclip myself I think these should work but wanted a light solution, ~100g is not too bad the problem will come if I decide to strip back the wire.

Interesting not sure if it will work in the grey uk ;)
So you charge it up and it slowly recharges itself when in use, can you turn it off an on?

No, no there is no On or OFF and NO CHARGING needed.
It starts producing Energy when it gets hitted by any lightsource and stops producing when no light - that Easy. U can charge it if u want to to use it as an small akku or energy source, sure, but u don`t need to charge it!
It works automatic if u want say it so. No recharging needed! The energy produced by any smal llightsource is enough for ur trackclip pro to make the LEDs work! So u will never ever have to charge it! so easy is it :)
. Its like the solarcells an Houses, they just produce energy when they get light. So the small solarthing is perfectly for that because a small lightsource is eneough to start making that amount of energy u need for the Leds to shine.
Its a cheap solution, try it for a few pounds, if it not works (it will:)) u can still buy a expensive duracell Battery like in ur first link up there, but that one is overkill for ur Trackclippro...It`s like u have a 1000 Watt Powersupply for ur Pentium 1 with 150 Mghz... ;)

They sell the solar charger here Krupi, maybe you could give it a go and report back!

 you have convinced me, got some Velcro as well.
Thanks for the advise.
Btw have you cut the trackclip cable back or just tucked it away?
Thanks again.

Hi,
i have left the wire like it was (extreme long), just rolled it together as small as possible and it works good. I don`t even notice it anymore. A little bit wire tie (those small plastic ties are great tho press the cabel together) does it well :)
But i am thinking of cutting it completely away to the smal length i need from Trackclip to Solarthing. I would also then cut away the USB Adapter witch i dont need anymore. Should everything come to maybe 7-10 cm Kabel in the end.. I will see.
I am just not sure if i would damage something but dont think so. Its just shortening and welding...
But how i said, at the moment i even don`t notice it because its not heavy and because of good Ducktaping and wire tie not wobbling or shaking around to nerv me...
Cheers m8

So the solar panel arrived, attached it to my old dog-eared G35 for testing as the G930 will be arriving later hopefully but probably on monday :(.
http://s5.postimage.org/m71o9galz/IMG_0106.jpg (http://postimage.org/image/68syjbgdv/full/)
The solar panel is only held on by string but when the G930 arrives it will be attached via a velcro pad, the wire was shortened using the instruction in the website I linked in my last post and then wrapped in a elastic cord to fix it in place.
So far so good, the solar panel will always be facing the window so it should get light from that and it can be unplugged when not in use.
Now I am off to test the trackclip, but so far so good thanks BumBumSale :D

Had a hairy moment when I turned on the track IR and found the lights didnt go on :(
Turns out I had forgotten to unplug the track IR so it was running all night long, a 5 min direct recharge and it worked fine again :D
P.S. Forgot to mention that I didn't charge the solar battery it really shouldn't have been a surprise that it had run out :D

Hi Krupi,
so it`s working fine and now u have a wireless TrackclipPro like u wanted.
Cheap solution and functionally even in the Dark, sunless UK :)
Problem solved...
Thxs for the link to Cord shortening, will try it too.

No thanks for that, ur welcome.
Yeah, the cordthing looks much more better now with that technique. Oh, u will love it on the G930, agreat Headset and very comfortable, even with a 3-shining-LED-Special-Solarplaint-Ugly-looking-thing-on the top ;)

Can you recall how long you charged the G930 for before you first used it?

I didn`t charge it the first time. When i plugged it in, the Software showed me that there was Energy for 5 Hours available. So it was already charged a little bit...
I Tested it mabe 3 hours while enjoying Tron Legacy in 7.1 surround and of course CloD in superb surround (u will love it). Then i just charged it a couple of hours and when it was full it showed me around 7-8 hours of power.
Maybe ur G930 is empty when it comes out of the box or like mine, already charged a little bit, enough for using it for a couple of hours.
I am always recharging it after a couple of hours after use. U can charge it how a mobilephone, whenever u want...

So the G930 arrived today :D

Works great so far, sound qaulity kicks the G35 out of the water but I am no audiophile and I am sure there are headphones that do a better job in that department.
Thanks again to BumBumSale and Bewolf for the advice :D
Time to see how far the wireless reaches when listening to this :o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7AJ1idUAhw
EDIT:
Can hear it downstairs and a meter into the kitchen (furthest room from the pc) before it cuts out so 3/4 of the house is covered and TBF the receiver is much closer to the one side of the house if I moved it then it would easily cover every room :D

Thats the good thing with the G930, super sound everywhere without those damn cables...
Don`t forget to take ur flight Controls with u downstairs or u will crush ur plane ;)
