Hi,
i got one of these small Solar thingies from a friend as a gift and tested it for this. It works great for the Trackclip Pro to make it "wireless"...Tried it to recharge my mobilephone with it but it doesn`t work, so took it for my Trackclippro and G930 to make the whole thing "wireless". Something like this, there are alot of those things around to buy, the cheapest ones should do the job great for ur purpose: http://www.amazon.de/August-SPC-1500...366462&sr=1-15 Works great even in a completely dark room with only ur Monitor as a light source...wondered myself why, but it still produces energy to keep it working... U even don`t need the Solarcells to look into the Lightsource, my one is looking straight up and still works fine... It`s small and easy fix on the G930... - its cheap - no recharging because of Solar - works even with minimum light and produces more then enough energy - not heavy - no batteries needed because the light is ur energy source - Works perfectly for the Trackclip pro Just a hind, give it a try, it´s maybe the cheapest try to get all this to work how u want - "wireless"... I am not so sure this LED is the end of all things. I used it, but the results were rather suboptimal. I got much, much better movement tracking with the reflectors.
I used those reflectors in two ways. Once on a baseball cap with the reflectors positioned ontop the... (no idea what it is called in english, the part protecting your eyes from the sun) The other way stuck to the bow of my headphones. That method produced the best results by far which, imho, is no wonder, as in this case your reflector is directly located on your head's twist axis. However, to get best results here you need the reflector raise a centimeter or two above that headphones bow, else it will be hidden by your own head once you move the head up. Some headphones have an extended bow that is just perfect for that, like this one: ![]() Without, as in the case of the G930, you have to build something yourself to get the same result. My first method was quick and dirty. I folded a sheet of paper to a size roughly the equivalent of the TrackIR clip, placed it ontop of an old eraser and put this combo ontop of my headphones simply attaching it with duct tape. Looked silly, but worked perfectly. Now I use a self made wireframe following the same setup logic, but with the added benefit of it being freely attachable to the headphones. If you need help here I am more then willing to lend a hand, though I am sure you will figure something out yourself.

Well I prefer the trackclip myself I think these should work but wanted a light solution, ~100g is not too bad the problem will come if I decide to strip back the wire.

![]() So you charge it up and it slowly recharges itself when in use, can you turn it off an on?

No, no there is no On or OFF and NO CHARGING needed. It starts producing Energy when it gets hitted by any lightsource and stops producing when no light - that Easy. U can charge it if u want to to use it as an small akku or energy source, sure, but u don`t need to charge it! It works automatic if u want say it so. No recharging needed! The energy produced by any smal llightsource is enough for ur trackclip pro to make the LEDs work! So u will never ever have to charge it! so easy is it ![]() . Its like the solarcells an Houses, they just produce energy when they get light. So the small solarthing is perfectly for that because a small lightsource is eneough to start making that amount of energy u need for the Leds to shine. Its a cheap solution, try it for a few pounds, if it not works (it will ![]() ![]() Cheers Last edited by BumBumSale; 01-12-2012 at 11:10 AM. |
