After which the aerodynamic and performance improvements were made and then the C and D models were developed. Take a look at this doc from the US Navy Bureau of Aeronautics dated 1945 on the test results of the F4U-1C and 1D models, FULLY LOADED (defined in the doc), which we also use in the sim:
