Red face Nvidia GTX580 users - please help!

Hello,

I have just bought gtx580 (it was a very good deal with warranty) and I am having some problems with Il2:Clod, but I'm not sure if its the game or the card at fault here.

My IL2:Clod is patched to the latest beta+fix, all settings on max, SSAO on.

The thing that worries me is that textures sometimes take a while to load. For example, in Black Death track, when the broken Hurri with one wing spins on the ground, the grass textures take a second or so to load fully, same with Belnheim that is on the gorund - the ground/grass textures and its wheel textures once again load in visible stages.

Is this normal, or should I return my card for a replacement? (while I'm still in the 14 day period, returning with " such issues" under warranty will be much harder).

Thanks in advance and S!

Afterburner graph pic - VRAM stays at around 1200Mb, so its not overloaded and should not lead to texture loading lag

I take it you're referring to 'The Black Death' track?

Mine's a 570 but it happens to me too. SSAO seems to slow things down a lot, so try it with it off.

I'd bet it's not your card. Have you tried another game?

Make sure you defragged the game files, e.g. with Gamebooster. (Do not defrag if you use SSD.)

Overclocking CPU to 3.5+ GHz may also help. Check if reducing texture quality makes any difference.

Yes, I forgot to mention that it was Black Death of course Will try it without SSAO, thanks. Thanks for sahring that you get the same thing happening with your 570. I start to think that my card is fine after all - it passes Heaven bench, no problems at all in RoF - just this issue in CloD. (dont play other games unfortunatly). But Clod is of course FAAAR more demanding than RoF, so this is the real test.

I'm not sure that defarg will help here, as textures need to be loaded from VRAM or RAM, if loading from HD the lag would be more than a second I think. I'll have a look into it anyway, cheers.

I'd love to hear from a 580 owner as well, just to put my mind at ease...

I'm playing the game with gtx680SLI and a i2500k at 4.3ghz. I'm having the same texture load at the beginning of the Black Death track. Same thing when I start a quick mission. After that the game runs ok so it's not your card. It's the programming.

I have it too on my GTX580... Some thread sync issue... Not much of a problem...

I run the specs below: its just crappy programming/coding/engine, not your gpu.
