Default Texture Compression

I have downloaded some very texture demanding campaigns but my 512MB graphics card is struggling to cope and the missions fails to load due to a MONO.SIM not created error (from my investigations this indicates insufficient Video capability and to apply compression). I currently run in 'Perfect' with no texture compression and 95% of my campaigns/missions are absolutely fine with good frame rates. Which is the best method to apply texture compression for the odd campaign -

within ATI catalyst as selectable profile

creating a duplicate but less demanding config.ini

checking 'Texture compression' in the IL2 set up menu before booting the game.

Using the in game Video options

I guess I could experiment but may be someone with a better understanding of all the texture compression variables/options could point out the best method or any potential conflicts by simply changing one of the above. Many thanks..........

Many thanks

Those 2 are about the same, save your present conf.ini, set s3tc compression via il2setup and, if satisfied, save the new conf.ini for use with the odd campaign.

Many thanks for that, I would have checked S3TC comp without saving the original config file not realizing that it would have been overwritten. Saved me a lot of hassle by pointing out I need to save the original first.......cheers!
