SoW should have one like IL 2 but expanded on. Kinda like what Rise of Flight is doing.

This is Il2 forums and SOW.
Go to Google and search on other sims you are interested. You will find plenty of information. Also, use search on top horz line for information you will find many answers on IL2 or SOW. You do not have to wait for members to answer your post. |

WHAT kind of response is that? Did you even read what I posted? Im suggesting something, not asking anything. Im just saying IL 2 should a more in depth and thought out Dynamic Campaign then IL 2's. Of couse this is the IL 2 and SoW forums...... thats why I posted this here. Im not going to suggest features for SoW on a different game's forums

there will be a much better campaign mode in BoB, there have been already multiple indications on this from oleg in recent years. there has been no "formal" comment on this by oleg, i suspect because they are still working on it, and it depends how complex/advanced they can make it.
from hints and snips of information he gave we can hopefully expect 1) a fully dynamic 24/7 server that you can join at any time, and fly "missions" from a number of locations, and of different types (hopefully do "free flying " to). oleg already stated the server will be dynamic and player interaction has a direct effect on events, but the eventual outcome of the war can not be changed (ie germany does not succeed in invading england) 2) a series of more scripted missions that take place in a linear form and more closely follow historical facts. this will be semi-dynamic, not sure how they will work that, but the server cant run 24/7 afaik. personally i am hoping we get a cross between the falcon-4 dynamic server (with scrolling mission choices once you join a server, and you can choose a fighter escort, bomber interception mission etc), and "mig alley" where you could actually influence the front line movements of ground troops with your air attacks on convoys and bridges etc, and be able to close airfields and force the enemy to use more rear located airfields etc.. Yes - the whole sim since IL-2 Sturmovik (ten years ago) has been more firmly based on on-line multiplay than offline. That's not saying that there aren't just hundreds, maybe thousands, of excellent off-line missions created by players: but online multiplayer has always been a large part of the game.

I think that by server he means the underlying campaign generator service.
There's rumors that there will be new multiplayer modes where you'll be able to play an entire dynamic campaign on a server just like you can do it in single player, so if this is true then it's effectively the same campaign engine regardless of wether it's single or multi player. As for what this dynamic campaign will include i doubt anyone knows with certainty, but there have been various snippets of information and hints towards a more developed dynamic campaign structure. Long story short we don't know yet what exactly it will include, we just know it will be better than the one in IL2 and that it will probably work in multiplayer as well. |
