I have been browsing the thread, and have been so compelled to say something that I have just registered to do so. Not done this before but anyway here goes.
My Son and I had the good fortune to meet Oleg a few years ago at a Flight Sim Convention held at the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool. At the time he was about to launch Pacific Fighters (so that gives an idea of how long ago).
I discovered a very shy but clever and really nice sensitive guy (he gave a lot of time to showing my lad how to land on an aircraft carrier in his new game - If you are reading this Oleg, do you remember we got a photo with you). He also came across as a guy quietly very proud of what he has already achieved and of the following he had accumulated waiting on his every breath in producing his proposed masterpiece. He obviously wants Battle of Britain to be his greatest achievment and thereafter Legacy to Flight Simulation - something to remember him by, and raising the bar for many many years into the future.
Being mindful of the importance in history that the Battle of Britain played in creating a turning point in what was fast becoming an overwhelming onslaught, his focus is upon getting it as right as possible before he releases it, and not just throwing out a cheap mish mash flight sim that disappoints all of his followers. He has already set himself a very high bar to jump over as a result of the quality and accuracy of the Il 2 series. He just wants his new creation to be a quantum leap on what he has already done.
I am sure he has been deeply hurt with some of the more negative comments whilst he is doing his best to satisfy his adoring public, it is likely that he has deliberately turned aside from comments good and bad, in order to focus on completing his masterpiece (because as soon as he responds to one enquirer or critic, it is the "foot in the door" opening the floodgates once more where he will feel obliged in fairness to once again begin answering others and then others, having answered that first person - he is that type of guy). I am sure he is concious that the project has been going on so long, and I think he will already feel bad about letting us all down in not getting it out onto the shelves sooner. When reviewing the steadily increasing band of those loosing faith in him and of the game ever being produced, he may well be feeling he has let us all down and is too embarrassed to respond because he would find it so hard to explain the intricacies of what is stalling completion of the game.
Lets all cut the guy some slack. As soon as it hits the streets, I am sure all will forget about all of the frustrations, particularly if it is released as a game that works properly from the start and does not need rapidly released patches in order to get the shelf bought item to flicker into life (a factor which is becoming more common in recent times with some game releases with crashes to desktop, freezes and distorted or offset graphics rendering them initially a waste of money, and raising questions about quality control in the respective companies).
Oleg has done us proud in the past with ALL of his releases, I am sure that B of B will be no lesser achievement if we just let him and his team get on with it and launch it when its quality says it is ready to be released. I await it just as eagerly as everyone else.

Well said, and I can't agee more...as far as the "hurt" I'm sure that's why he post as little as possible. But on the other hand we are eager for information and we admire him so. That's why we all check in here for the latest or any news.

So please stop to induce your thoughts as facts here.
BoB:Sow will come... and if it doesn´t comes for whatever reason the world will still turn, or maybe not, that might be one of the reasons .
Live, as it is, must be viewed pessimistic enough. Most of us dont need additional input.

Btw, always when i read the thread title there is one automatic answer that pops up: You can request all what you want, that doesn´t mean that you get it.

Hear, Hear. The voice of reason hath spoken. Its the doom mongers and Nay sayers whos voices are generally heard louder........because they are generally rude, sarcastic and tiresome individuals......insufferable bores with clearly nothing better to do but snipe and criticise. Not an Oleg sycophantic fanboy, just an appreciative customer who has faith in his and his teams abilities. But some folk are never happy, so let it be.

"Reality is that part of the imagination we all agree upon". The proof will be in the pudding, and I have no doubt jaws will drop, they are the best in the business, hands down. Leave the creative "expert" extrapolation, conjecture, and omniscient observations to the moaners. They are legion.

It will be out when its out. Sheesh!

Your right, i dont know when SOW will hit the market, but i do know when it wont, and it wont be this year. I am really sorry to be pessimistic, but you must learn to deal with it at your age.

That was a great post up there and i agree whole heartedly, although i wish Oleg wouldn't feel bad, he has no reason to, and owes not one of us a thing.

Danjama,
I am not saying that Oleg IS feeling bad. I was putting myself in his shoes, having what I believe to be a small understanding of the guy from one meeting, and saying I can understand if he does feel that way after all of the negative comments.
I really need a new desktop computer, but I have been waiting until I get an idea of what spec will be needed to give the best performance just like many others I suspect, before I buy another. So, this is why I am just as eager as everyone else, but as I said, it will come when it is done.
In the meantime fellow flight simmer's "Keep the Faith!!!" it will be worth it.

Bumping this up because there are some superb replies here. I'm very pleased that, for the most part, this thread is a polite discussion of how much people want to know stuff!

Since it's begun there HAS been some info from Oleg, though I'll dare to say it's not a lot (my own opinion). I for one am very appreciative of any info regardless of daisys!

maybe I'd just like to say that I do appreciate any updates primarily because it reassures me you are still working on it, it will still happen.

Lots of love and happiness to all

I'm sure that Oleg is glad to hear that we all want to know more...even if it is a little obvious to begin with.
