Don´t you think it will be a shame if two next generation sims are released too close of each other?
Let´s go to Rise of Flight, I´m pretty confident we will still exploring this new sim when SOW arrives in a year or so.
No need to be anxious about it.
This market is so tiny, we have to take advantage from every new release.

I've been following the development of SOW since 2004 and seen no communication black out. BUT I totally understand that we all want more info, but thats not always possible for a multitude of reasons. The Simhq interview should provide more insight on the progress of SOW. Hopefully the interview will include an actual ingame screenshot.

Chivas,

I've been following too the development, being a customer of Oleg since 2001. Sorry to say that, but we've always been misinformed. We have been deceived on development progress, PC spec dates, updates frequency, release dates.
The forum should be the main place to get updates; I pop in this forum every other day, and the first thing I see is the 12-31-2008 on the right of "Oleg News"... 5 months with no or little info, and running ...

Let's wait however for the SimHQ interview, and see which other release date we'll be given ...

Regards,
Insuber

Insuber you are right about the lack of regular updates, but on the other hand maybe we should all just move away and if SoW is released come back.
Why all this stress?
I really cannot understand why Oleg and anyone else is obliged to any of us for anything.
If we can't follow his steps, let's not.

It'll be done when it's done...if it's done - that's all.

I doubt very much that we have been knowingly misinformed and decieved by the developers. They've had hopes that the project would be completed by a certain time and expressed those hopes to us. Unfortunately plans changed and there are ALWAYS a multidude of roadblocks and delays when creating something new. It would have been better had he not mentioned SOW at all, atleast until the project was closer to completion. He would have had to indure far less insults on the forums.

True, they should not of mentioned the dedicated SOW website either, that was a clanger and system spec's in May, it led people to believe that the sim was near completion when of course most of us knew it was miles off.

Isnt that insulting? He (or a boy form his team) could post some of the screenies in 5 months...at least for the hardcore fans...

You're perfectly right on one thing, the issue started when SoW plans where communicated, forums opened, and commitments taken on certain points. We customers have sensitive antennas, and elephant's memory.

We didn't ask for SoW. We didn't ask for SoW teasers in the 1946 DVD, back in 2006, nor for system specs in summer 2008, nor for an update every 2 weeks, nor a dedicated website. And everyone here understands the delays on a complex and innovating project. No problems on that, Oleg keep up the good work !!!! Nobody here is saying "come on Oleg, release it!".

But if we ask for more frequent updates, as he himself committed to, is that an insult ? I doubt. We ask indeed for respect, the respect due to the public when public commitments are taken. How more acceptable to say "Hey chaps don't expect any news for the next 6 months".

Then as someone said, life continues, Il2 is still alive and kicking, DCS: BS and RoF are out there to calm our sim appetite. Me and you have more hobbies than time to do them ...

Regards,
Insuber

Why would it be a shame if two next gen sims are released close to each other? All the better for the public and just might push the devs more to develop a better product when there is good competition. The only way to grow the market is to release good sims that will make people to want to go out and buy it. With more choices that can allow the market to grow nad improve. Why limit yourself?
