Default help :(

hi how are you....

i have IL2 1946 the game worked fine until about a month ago..

I have a quad core q6600, and run vista 64

then all of a sudden the game won't start, i've tried reinstalling it. changed graphics card drivers...

all i can think of is that there was an update for vista recently that may have caused it not to work,....

any ideas?

I've checked the net for help on forums howwver they're all related to gettting the game to work in xp compatabilloity mode which i do ....

cheers

You'll have to give us a bit more than "it doesn't work".

Any symptoms? Sparks coming out of your computer? Any entries in the aplication log?

I run Vista 64 as well, and I've never run IL-2 in application mode, it runs just fine native.

You shouldn't have to run the game in compatability mode with XP. Most are using duals (I do) and boot to XP to run the IL2 1946. The Il2 runs fine in Vista, but most of us have other issues with our contol devices and config of the IL2. I'm sure a competent Vista build and setup is possible, but I'm not too sure I'd be interested to spend all the time it will take.

I use free-track, Ch Products Fighterstick, Pro Pedals, Pro Throttle, X-Keys programmable keyboard. I sometimes try to run in Vista and when I start a mission it says... the mission is over, my aircraft is crashed, my pilot is dead, etc. SO...yeah, I just dual boot into XP and use the IL2 1946 from XP.

There is a community help on the Ubi site and you might get help there. You'll do better there, since there are some real sharp simmers that hang there.

--------------------------------------------

I should mention there are proably more Vista users hanging at the AAA
site, because most of them are building new sytems and such. I'm sure you can get good advice there as well.

Good luck

Have you tried uninstalling Vista and throwing away the disk?

Downgrade FTW.
