I must admit, i haven´t seen this one in a while, but yes, you are correct.

@swiss: i wouldn´t say Craig lacks in style, his is just different from the former ones . Let´s take it to the air and just say the looser is right (as that will be me ).

@ Swiss...

read the Bond books Fleming wrote (he also authored Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - go figure), they're a marked difference to the films

Wot!? Irish? some might say that's worse - given "the troubles".

Nah seriously, Brosnan moved to the US in '82 apparently and seems to have lost his "original" accent (at least to the point where it isn't anywhere near enough to an English accent)

Personally I think Timothy Dalton was the best Bond. The biggest problem for him was that they were 80s films and had that lack of style that categorises 80s films. He was to my mind the closest to the Bond as described in the books.

Connery has never been a good actor. Lazenby was good. Moore was rubbish but the films were entertaining. Brosnan was good but lacked the nasty streak. Craig is very good but he's now more a paramilitary type than a spy/assassin.

Everyone will have their favourites.

It's pretty obvious that the marketing people decided with the latest Bond films they were better off abandoning the suave/sophisticated Bond (and the existing audience that liked that franchise) and instead should try and capture the "proven" market, especially in the US, for thrillers featuring a brash all-american style action hero.

Indeed ... as the Cold War is over and CNN is now full of Iraq/Afghanistan. The new Bond is just a NATO/US special forces operative out of uniform.

There is no "real" Bond. Fleming's character has little to do with the films - in the same way that Shrek-the-book is nothing like Shrek-the-movie-franchise.

To my mind Connery was the best - a charming sociopath (as character, not the man). Moore was pantomime, Dalton and Brosnan a bit meh, and Craig is Bourne. I quite liked Lazenby, but mainly because his film followed the book and had a bit of an emotional punch.

Actually, I do also have a soft spot for Brosnan as "Goldeneye" is one of my fave-ever videogames
