I hate that horrible yellow colour though.....apologies to the designer of this forum...
and the clouds are really naff...compared to the new ones we have at AAA

How do they get away with that company name anyway....Gaijin entertainment....lol

I know in the old samurai times they referred to us Europeans as Gaijin.... "hairy barbarians".....do they still do that? It would be like shouting 'Nigg**'

I know in HongKong they still call us Gwailo...and get away with it....but the HK Chinese are the worst for racism....they even think they are the best of all the Chinese in asia

Well I thought it was very pretty, anachronisms and unskinned buildings aside. But the lack of ecclesiastical structures has really got my goat up, does 1C consider us a bunch of godless heathens?

Gaijin doesn't mean "hairy barbarian", it means foreigner (foreign-person)...

Your statement seems to suggest that the name was chosen by the Japanese and is horribly inappropriate... do you know this for a fact, maybe its an American or Russian company?

One interesting thing I have seen in my travels is the use of the word "Gaijin" in reference to Japanese-Americans (Americans of Japaneses ancestry)... and I can assure you that the Japanese-American in question was no "hairy barbarian" (LOL)...

What are you guys crying about anyway ,
Yeh im so eager as anyone else about getting a SoW update ASAP, but still even if this game has elements of BoB engine (i saw that line saying rewrittern from scratch by IGN , Dosnt mean Oleg and Theese guys cooped abit on engine development) what does it matter.

It's a console game it will most likly be very arcade if you compare with the PC version. Just be thankful SoW is still PC exclusive.. im sure we'll see an update soon.

This development could indicate that BoB will not be released earlier than 2010. IL2-Birds of Prey appears to be the present state of the BoB engine, still being developed, not good enough for an official BoB release and instead being used as a cash boost in the lucrative console market. This will ensure BOB becomes the ultimate sim that everyone expects it to be, plus some.

Since Birds of Prey is being released in 2009 for PC it is unlikely that BoB will be released for a considerably time after because the two would be competing for a similar market.

This would also explain why there hasn't been any official word on BoB because it's release date is not on the horizon. Don't hold your breath guys.

IMHO, this is an hybrid between IL-2 (FM, DM, basic design of planes) and SoW:BoB (plane textures, terrain, countryside, ground objects) adapted to the powerful GPU of the consoles, destinated to get some cash to keep the wheels of SoW:BOB running.

I have noted that some of the main fighters shown here are Hurricanes with 12x.303 machine guns and Spits with 2 x 20 mm guns. No "Battle of Britain" planes. So it seems that they come directly from IL-2 planeset (Hurricane MkIIB and Spitfire V), maybe with improved textures according to the graphic power of a console. I can't say anything about the Me-110 and He-111 versions. It seems to me strange not to have chosen a Hurri Mk.I available in the IL-2 planeset. More firepower in the MK.IIB?

DM of the damaged Hurricanes reminds me very much the IL-2 DM, eventhough it seems more detailed. However, a damaged Hurri, with some of the control surfaces almost broken, seems to manoeuver very well, though. The way in which some of the planes shown in the footage turn and roll reminds me the way the IL-2 AI planes do. I would guess that the FM will have be more simplified for such a console game.

Mr Subbotin , the spokesman of 1C, says:
"...there's a new damage modeling system where your plane can get chewed up pretty badly, to the point that it has gaping holes in the wings and fuselage, and that will affect your aircraft's handling on the more realistic difficulty levels....""

For a newcomer to flight simulation, this could be fantastic but, we, the old IL-2 pilots, know that this is how our beloved IL-2 performs, so this effects can be achieved easily with the IL-2 DM engine.

Finally, the country side, trees, villages, seems to come directly from the first SoW:BoB promotion videos, from months or years ago.

My conclusion, an hybrid.

And don't forget that most of console players don't have joysticks, pedals, etc. By not mentionning a TrackIR,

And one of the most commented features of future SoW:BoB is the full real FM.

How to fly a plane with a gamepad? How to make coordinated turns etc ...? Simplifiying the FM.

Unless a Wii-like control stick would be developed....

WOW:BoB!!!!

I love the look of it.

My biggest worries about BoB were that the trees and towns would be as badly modelled as we've seen in the early devepment pictures of SoW:BoB. I am very relieved that everything here looks almost exactly as it should do. Whether Oleg's team has modelled the lanscape/towns is less relevant to me, as he will without a doubt see this. I would be very surprised though if his team didn't model the landscape/towns as they must have already spent years doing the complex modelling - it makes no sense to do it again from scratch?
It would have been nice to see some small villages/churces/farms/factories, the sort of thing that brings a landscape to life. Though I am very happy with what I see. It is undeniably British looking.
I thought there might be a problem with the large amount of buidings making the game (SoW:BoB) impossible to play. In the least it look promising, even if the towns we see are small, and aknowledging that consoles have high processing power.

If Oleg has been involved in this it certainly explains the lack of update information on Sow:BoB.

It's a great shame if the release of BoB has been delayed because of Oleg's teams possible involvment with this game.
