IGN has some more meat:
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/879/879845p1.html Interesting part (said by Anatoly Subbotin, 1C's PR manager according to IGN): "Birds of Prey will use the flight models that were developed for the PC game, but almost everything else was rewritten from scratch from the consoles. Visually, this is a gorgeous game; aircraft are rendered in sharp detail, but even more impressive were the fully 3D landscapes below. There are thousands and thousands of 3D trees, roads, villages, landmarks, cities, rivers, and more. Then there's a new damage modeling system where your plane can get chewed up pretty badly, to the point that it has gaping holes in the wings and fuselage, and that will affect your aircraft's handling on the more realistic difficulty levels." If they have not used code from SoW:BoB after hearing that - I'd be amazed... But I have been before ![]() ![]() Last edited by mazex; 06-06-2008 at 09:03 PM. |

I think the problem that many have,me included,is the almost total lack of SoW info, and then this thing arrives totally unexpected, with what looks like SoW terrain and lighting effects, for a console game.I have no issues with console games (I have a 10 year old kid who might be interested!) but still no news of SoW for PC.From Oleg saying that SoW 'had to be released by the end of 2006' to now no release date in sight for us even in the middle of 2008.Strange. All Oleg and co need to do is release a similar video about SoW and we would be ecstatic with happiness. |

I hate that horrible yellow colour though.....apologies to the designer of this forum...
and the clouds are really naff...compared to the new ones we have at AAA How do they get away with that company name anyway....Gaijin entertainment....lol I know in the old samurai times they referred to us Europeans as Gaijin.... "hairy barbarians".....do they still do that? It would be like shouting 'Nigg**' I know in HongKong they still call us Gwailo...and get away with it....but the HK Chinese are the worst for racism....they even think they are the best of all the Chinese in asia ![]() |

Well I thought it was very pretty, anachronisms and unskinned buildings aside. But the lack of ecclesiastical structures has really got my goat up, does 1C consider us a bunch of godless heathens?

Gaijin doesn't mean "hairy barbarian", it means foreigner (foreign-person)... Your statement seems to suggest that the name was chosen by the Japanese and is horribly inappropriate... do you know this for a fact, maybe its an American or Russian company? One interesting thing I have seen in my travels is the use of the word "Gaijin" in reference to Japanese-Americans (Americans of Japaneses ancestry)... and I can assure you that the Japanese-American in question was no "hairy barbarian" (LOL)... What are you guys crying about anyway
![]() Yeh im so eager as anyone else about getting a SoW update ASAP, but still even if this game has elements of BoB engine (i saw that line saying rewrittern from scratch by IGN , Dosnt mean Oleg and Theese guys cooped abit on engine development) what does it matter. It's a console game it will most likly be very arcade if you compare with the PC version. Just be thankful SoW is still PC exclusive.. im sure we'll see an update soon. |
