Did you upgrade your OS too? If you're still running XP or even Vista they are a likely cause for at least 50% of your problems with CLOD.

Know it's too late now, but you'd also have been better off not buying a 2600k (try disabling HT btw ,some reported it to ruduce stuttering) and going for a 2500k or 2400 and spending the difference on a better card.
560ti or 6950 ,even a 5870, would have been a better pick. Preferrably with 2gb+ ram..your 1gb will be filled up in no time with everything on high,SSAO on etc and a decent resolution.

its got to be either your card or your processor speed.
Ive got a very similar setup: P8P67/i7 2600K @ 4.4ghz/GTX 580SC/8 gigs ram.
For me, the game is fluid, beautiful, and nothing short of stunning. Average frame rates flying online are 55+ with vsync on.

Vsync will make your mouse inputs and possibly all inputs delayed, controls might feel mushy.

Try turning it off you will get better preformance plus a more responsive mouse.

Certainly not so in my case. If the game was any more fluid or crisp it would have to act before I put input into it.
Personally I will not play without vsync activated. And it doesn't seem to have any ill effect on gameplay.

+1 for the vidcard and +1 for the os. Btw. I would like to ask the TO which resolution he is running the sim?

I usually played CloD with 1920x1080 with about medium details and encountered stuttering sometimes. Yesterday I switched the resolution to a lower setting, which made my spit looking like a flounder *lol*, but game was very fluid.

Another question concerning the graphics card: I just bought the AMD Saphire radeon HD 6850 1GB. Would it have been better to buy one with more RAM? I think more ram would be nice if you use anti aliasing.

Greetings!

Very enjoyable even with my old rig. For me a great improvement was the OS upgrade at 64bit.
Ciao
