It definatley isnt the game as many many people with much lower systems than you (me included) can run the game smooth as silk on max settings. So before posting that the game is causing dramas, you need to check out your pc for problems. You should be able to run this fine, so problem points to your system, not the software. EDIT - actually your graphics card would be the bottleneck on your system - it is quite old now. Cliffs is quite dependent on the GPU, but i would expect that you would be able to run it on low settings. I suggest turning down all your settings in game and seeing if that helps, if not, check your graphics card as I suspect it may not be working 100% correctly. Cheers, Recon. |
Nvidia, FTW.

Nvidia rules ... http://www.cubpilot.com/Tspin/Woot.gif
Maybe that's not a fair statement as I have never owned a ATI video card, but I do do a lot of reading/research and have always chosen Nvidia, I guess that makes me a Nvidia fanboy. |
what settings are you using trok? Might b a couple of things like clouds, ssao and land shading that you have on. If so turn them off and down and see how it goes then. As previously stated, ur card could be the bottleneck

I unfortuantely have stuck with ATI as they always seem to have a card out that hits the sweet spot when it comes time to upgrade. The HD 6950 2GB was really the best card in it's price range. Always wanted a nvidia card so i could have a nvidia / intel system.
There is a point of dimishing returns in terms of preformace per dollar and longevity with video cards. I have to find the balence because i know how fast hardware refreshes. |
Did you upgrade your OS too? If you're still running XP or even Vista they are a likely cause for at least 50% of your problems with CLOD.
Know it's too late now, but you'd also have been better off not buying a 2600k (try disabling HT btw ,some reported it to ruduce stuttering) and going for a 2500k or 2400 and spending the difference on a better card. 560ti or 6950 ,even a 5870, would have been a better pick. Preferrably with 2gb+ ram..your 1gb will be filled up in no time with everything on high,SSAO on etc and a decent resolution. |
Oh and clear the cache !
You never know, it could be that simple. |
its got to be either your card or your processor speed.
Ive got a very similar setup: P8P67/i7 2600K @ 4.4ghz/GTX 580SC/8 gigs ram. For me, the game is fluid, beautiful, and nothing short of stunning. Average frame rates flying online are 55+ with vsync on. |
