![]() The Sportster is a '79 Ironhead model, with an SU carb and open bellmouth. Don't have it anymore but it was fun blipping the throttle in town and spraying raw fuel all over your leg! ![]() |

I used to get a kick out of revving a worn 350LC in front of some Cavalier SRi Driver, and filling his windscreen with unburnt 2-Stroke! Ah, the memories!! ![]() |

I remember a frayed throttle cable on my old ex proddy racer 250LC that resulted in me screaming through a village with the throttle stuck wide open and me hanging on in sheer terror.
It wasn't just the bike screaming! ![]() Ah I'm getting all misty eyed for the old days now... |

![]() When I had the old Z650, on the way home from work one day, the main wiring loom burst into flames under the tank. I jumped off the bike, put my visor down and batted the flames out with my hands (with gloves on of course). After the fire had gone out, I thumbed the starter and rode the thing home about 15 miles, with every wire bare copper. ![]() Although that was nothing to taking a race tuned X7 around Three Sisters go-kart track near Wigan, and at the first bend discovering the front brake had lost all its fluid. My, that stung a bit. ![]() |

It's great.
No tinkering, no leaks, no searching for parts. Reliable as a Honda, without being soulless/boring. And I am not knocking Honda at all. My first bike was a Honda, never a problem, but totally forgettable. The new Bonneville is a good handling machine and is easily accessible to beginners and satisfying for experienced riders too. It wont set the world on fire speed wise, but it's fast enough for me now a days. I've got nothing to prove to anyone but myself so going 100mph+ is just, well, stupid on the public highway. I still enjoy showing my replica Lucas tail light to Harleys in the twisty bits though... ![]()
