what was the problem how did the B17 go up in flames?

Eeehhh, I think think the problem was a fire. It made the plane burn.

Fuel usually does it for you. Allthough if you listen to the kid on this video apparently it was a bomb.

i read there was an engine fire. the pilot feathered the engine and i would suppose hit the extinguisher as well. but if the fire was caused by leaking fuel...and the fuel ran inside the wing the extinguisher may not have been able to reach that far. once it starts there rubber insulation on wires....hydraulic hose, etc that will feed the fire. fire in a plane is the mother of all B!T<#es....especially if you dont have a chute!

thank you bobbysocks, engine fire got it you see what i was thinking they must of got the fright of there lives in that big lady, getting out in time, they all live to tell the tail that is the most inportant thing the lives on bored were saved great stuff.
