Very different perception than a mic sitting in a cockpit...
I am a sound engineer since 1984 and have done a lot of "foley" recording for movies in the past...To recreate the sound a pilot would actually hear, you have to take those facts in consideration : The helmet would have the same effect as putting your hands over your ears ...So listen to your exemples with high volume on your speakers and put your hands on your ears...That would give you a rough idea...

The issue isn't about muffling in my educated opinion. The issue is that the sounds are plain wrong, misplaced and have little footage in reality. The only thing I find somewhat realistic from the in cockpit sounds showed here are the V12 exhaust "hummm" cycles looping in the background. The sounds from the in game vid may be "supposed" to replicate reality but there's no chance in hell they sound realistic in combination with eachother. Apart from some of the frequencies that are plain missing.
A leather "helmet" with a couple of bakelite/metal cups on it, using WW2 tech, does not take away frequencies and sounds all together or have the same effect as putting your hands over your ears. Not even my modern Peltors does that.
