Like Feuerfalke said we waited so long that another 6 months or a year means little, The main thing is that it is clear that work is now in progress where as this time last year we were seeing next to nothing and updates were few and far between. I cannot imagine for one instance that after all the years in development that Oleg will just throw this game out for release just to try and meet another date that he 'hopes' to release by. He surely will give it the proper marketing process that it deserves, can he do all that within the next 5 months, I very much doubt it - Im optimistically looking forward to a early 2011 release.

I prefere to wait the extra 6 months to get a finished game (wich will need paches anyways btw) rather than get a game like RoF for example.

All the bs that surrounded (and still do) RoF put me of bying the game, ever.

In fact, i get close to pissed of everytime i, against my better judgment, visit the RoF forum at SimHQ.

My personal opinion about RoF btw, to me its not even close to intresting anymore and it would be a bad thing if SoW did the same misstake since iv heard alot of people that where intrested in RoF now wont tuch it with a 10 foot pole, no matter how many improvments. Nothing against the game itselfe really, people just get put off by to much hazzle.

That's fine with me too, as long as it's an open beta like you said. Beta versions tend to (or should, i'm looking at the usual suspect sim titles again) be free after all

Well if it's released this year, I'll probably have make do with a graphics card upgrade and maybe a quad core processor for my LGA775 Motherboard. If it's 2011 I'll probably be able to make a whole new system!

this game is gonna be freaking wicked... i'd rather them make the perfect sim that can be expanded, added onto and upgradable (can i be more redundant?) to keep up with new technology trends and it take a long time 6 months... 5 years... don't care how long... then have them deliver a broken game that they have to spend most of their time fixing whats already there, rather than spending that time making new stuff...

I can't hide my hunger for this title and i really hope for a summer release.

Btw the most important thing that makes me wait confident in their work is that no other developers works this way, talking with the community created by their quality work and improving an existing project too listening to suggestions and even asking for more help for the best possible outcome.

This is the most important thing having seen disasters like Silent Hunter series or Rainbows6 in the past.

So for me the sooner the better but respect before anything.

P.s.
sry if i peed off

One must remember that when IL2 was released the internet was dial-up in moost countries and magazine marketing was the way to go...
With the advent of superfast broadband you can build the hype around the sim within weeks rather than what took months before.
I firmly believe he is still on track for a late September release.
If one looks at both ROF and Silenthunter 5, both were hyped withing a weeks. In fact the Silenthunter 5 site was created about two months before launch if not less.
I agree with one of the posters in this thread that pointed to mission building, ai and graphic tweaking as being what is left to do.
The flight models will not change much from IL2, Oleg has already said this, just a few tweaks.
A lot of what we are seeing in TD's 2.10 patch may be closet tests of the SOW ai. An ai that cannot see through clouds or will not shoot at a friendly plane... The list is endless but I have to believe the advances in ai shows a close colaberation between the SOW team and TD

It´s OK for me a Christmas release.
The later the year , more powerful CPU we will have in the market to make this baby run fine,GPU will be the same we have now, probably ( Radeon 5970 and upcoming nvidia GTX 480)

I'll just be happy when it comes out. In 2005 the release date was set for 2007 (if I recall correctly).

The dev updates are nice while we wait.
