Default IL-2 to hit 3rd Dimension on PS3 next year!

Well actually a lot of games could next year with a system firmware update and the right TV (specifically a Sony Bravia).
In summary the PS3 needs to render only one image but also send depth information for that image to the TV via HDMI. The TV will then produce images for the left and right eye. Apparently this method of data transmission will only work with the PS3 slim as it has modified hardware that utilizes a feature called 'Bravia Sync' allowing TV and console to communicate additional data.
Undoubtedly these 3D TV 's will cost the earth when they come out, but of course will come down in time.
It's all early days, but exciting times are ahead...

Like the PSeye for head tracking?

That's pretty useless, not innovative at all.

Maybe not but hats off to them they are the only ones doing it, because they already have the hardware and software to implement this if they so choose. And they already have with GT5

3D TV is nothing new, this concept has been in development for years. As for movies and general TV viewing, 3D does not interest me, but for gaming and particularly a game like IL-2, depth perception would be an incredible bonus. The sensation of flying would be breath-taking with true depth perception.

Each to their own...

outside of a small mention during an interview this feature doesnt exist

they would have shown the tech at TGS or at least mentioned it
