Well I've finally mastered flying the Fw-190 A5 on simulator. (Controls set to 100% and lots of practice to familiarise myself with the foilbles and unstabilty of the bloody thing).
I was involved in a series of X-Box 360 BOP with one side flying P-47s and the other Fw-190s of various grades. I managed one kill (aimed and blew off a wingtip on a P-47), clipped a tree with a wing whilst chasing another, was shot down twice and watched Wizzard spin out of control in his P-51 B after I scored only 5 hits on the tail / fuselage from 200 yards. I didn't score that one and wasn't able to take aim at him otherwise I would have stuffed it too. For a 12 player game it was a lot of fun. As for COD.... after COD 3 it was dumbed down, made easier on story mode, filled with carappy gimmics and aimed at kids. There are still big games on every night on COD 3 with Buell 37 hosting. The common age of the players is over 30 and several women play too. I think that BOP will still have folks, who are into WW2 aviation, still playing it in 2 years time. On the lack of players on the PS 3 just reflects on the lack of interest in Sony with looking after their Playstation online gaming system. Nobody oversees or polices it weed out dickheads and assholes, etc. The X-Box Live, is the direct opposite of this and is both maintains, overseen and policed.... but then again Microsoft has vastly more money to spend than Sony. All this makes the X-Box 360 vastly more popular than the Playstation 3 so there are more folks found to play against on the X-Box than the Playstation. X-Box is the modern Sinclair Spectrum here in the UK and X-Box games dominate the shelves of Gamestation and Game franchise shops. We mustn't forget all those loosers and unfortunates who have a Wii, which is aimed at Kintergarten aged players, Politically Correct households, those who like uninspiring, tedious and lame games, etc. |
