After spending almost three days trying to set up my X-52 and CoD Controls I finally give up! My wife says it's time to turn to the Forum for help, which feels like asking for directions in a strange town, and you all know what that's like!
I have an X-52 Hotas, and have upgraded my CoD to Mod 4.0 from ATAG.
Here's a list of problems perhaps you guys can help with.
1. Which is better to use, the X-52 Control functions, or the CoD Control Panel?
2. Does one supersede the other?
3. If I map everything to the X-52, should I remove all Keys and Axes from the Control Panel in CoD? And vice versa?
4. Does anyone have a basic, simple X-52 Layout for CoD that doesn't require a course in Computer Science? Or a CoD Control Layout that can be printed?
5. Why are there Keys and Axes that do the same thing?
6. As the game Manual is more confusing to me than a course in Chinese Cooking, does anyone know of a "dumbed down" Manual that's available? I'm on the far side of 70 which complicates things!
I look with eager anticipation for the great replies that I know are on their way! Thanks, guys, and be sure to keep checking your six!

You should just not worry about your Saitek sst program for now , just go
into the game and use the setup screens there . after you get it all set up
and get used to it in game you might wish to have some more advanced
controls and macros which you can use the Saitek software for.
The Saitek x 52 has lots and lots of buttons and axes so you'll probably
never have to use the sst software.

good luck and happy flying

+1

No need to use the programing software.

There are axes and buttons that do the same because you can set up an axis OR a key for a certain command. that is because some people do have joysticks with a lot of axes, where as others may only have 2-3.

As for the basic layout: i don´t have one, but i put everything concerning engine management on the left hand, weapons, etc. is on the right hand.

I don´t think there is a dumbed down manual, but the best manual that i know is getting on teamspeak and ask people. If that is possible, do it! Jump on the ATAG-TS, and you will get the help you need.

And btw. I´d much rather ask questions on the ATAG forum than over here... This forum is just slowly dying I think...

Good Luck!

Many thanks to you both! The idea of Engine Management on the left is great, as the right is always busy trying to keep the plane in the sky. Right now I'm trying to re-install the game, as I messed up a couple of Update Patches, and had to delete the game and re-install. Now I have two totally basic CoD's in a clean folder as insurance! Some of us learn more slowly than others, I guess! Oh, well, if I wasn't doing this my missus would be thinking up things for me to do, so this takes priority, of course!
