I need to reinstall my CoD CD,update it, add Team Fusion and MALTA by making separate installs. Some time ago, STEAM took over on my PC. Had problems last few days serparate installs no longer starting up. I tried reinstalling CoD today and steam did it but incomplete and would not start. I ask steam for help with whineygrams but no an answer. Is it possible to run CoD without being in STEAM?

Many Thanks for that..I will try to see it on youtube as the letters are too small to read..I am 76. The problem is a missing executable file so I am unable to start the COD MOD and COD MALTA folders I made. Oddly, MOD does open and works for me from desltop roundel icon. I put my original CD (for WIN XP and Vista) trying to find an executable to add to COD folders..but it won't open as steam seems to hide it or not possible in Win 8\64. I am unable to contact steam to ask them to look into my COD folders and fix the missing file. Frustrating. The more so as I see no need for Steam as I only want CoD from them. I hope the Stalingrad and newer flight sims are kept separate and independent. If anyone has "an executable" handy glad to give you my email address. Thanks

As I understand the install of Cliffs of Dover you can run the sim without being "on line" but you must have "Steam" installed to be able to run it.
No Steam install = no sim available to play. This is part of the protection for the developers to stop illegal copying. You can have multiple installs, but you must have "Steam" running to activate.
Even if you have multiple installs (which I have to run different mods) the game won't start with any of them without "Steam" activation.

I personally like having COD on Steam. When I install a mod that has a problem, I can easily have Steam, verify and correct the problem until I find what the problem was with the mod download.

Thanks,Chivas..there is my problem..Steam verifies my installation files but when I use the steam tool bar icon it says missing .exe file. "The dog chasing its tail" problem. I bought a new copy of COD $20 from Steam Store yesterday thinking it would solve my problem with Steam..I hit the start icon and get same message..missing .exe. My team fusion MOD install starts but some mission files not recognized. My MALTA loaded and ready but will not execute start. I tried installing CoD on laptop thinking I could move to PC and get .exe but it would not show up on my C drive as it was installed in Steam, so I am frustrated. I see the value of Steam and have had no problems until making separate installs. I have written to them asking for help hoping for a phone call. The problem is probably simple and obvious but I do not have the backgroung in computers necessary. Thank you for your reply. John

Maybe you can solve your problem with steam with a complete fresh install of Steam.Go to
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html Download Revo-unsinstaller.Just choose the Free version.Use Revo-uninstaller to uninstall Steam. If it is done, restart your pc.
Go to http://store.steampowered.com/ and install Steam again.
I install things like this with UAC turned off and all with administrator rights
Maybe you can check your settings of your firewall, maybe you are just blocking Steam.

When you open Steam does it show COD as one of your games, and does Steam show COD as installed? Steam can list COD as one of your paid games, but not installed.

My panel shows CoD with 3 updates. I click play and get unable to open "missing executeable". I have an email from "support" and hope to hear more from them. I will try above suggestions. Many thanks

STORMRIDER..!! FOLLOWING YOUR ADVICE I REMOVED ALL MY cOd INSTALLS AND STEAM USING REVOUNINSTALLER.com and reinslled STEAM..got fresh Dl of CoD..but..it would not start..Steam message "Fail to Start". Have question into UBIsoft to find out what to do. I thin your approach was correct because my blundering around has probably caused problems I do not understand. Many thanks for you advice.
