Why the recorded track is sometimes different?

Yesterday night I was playing offline a ground strafing mission. I must have hit with my cannons a fuel tank, as there was a big explosion with high flames that I had to cross through. Wow, very choreographic! But in the recorded track there was no evidence of that: just a little fire with some smoke. Other times I have noticed differences between mission and recorded track. How is it possible? How does the recording work?

You need use a external record like Fraps, Action...

I do use Fraps, but on the recorded track, so in the movie I can cancel windows and indicators and I can change visuals
