I upgraded my computer from a Dell Studio 1749 Notebook, (in which COD looked great but ran too slow for me), to an MSI GT70 0NE. This beast of a Laptop is amazing however I am unable to get good texture quality when running COD. I attach a couple of screenshots to show the 2 x problems.....
1. No gunsight
2. Very Blurry Textures / Washed out ground!
I have settings on max. Any suggestions?

I seriously don't believe that is the answer. It's like the fields have no detail!:(

I have. ALT-L Just brightens the area where the gun sight should be. Still no gun sight.
I'm sure it's linked to problem with field textures having no detail ?????????

I get something like that, it seems to be when the sight is not in direct sunlight, as if the sun on it is needed to make the internal light visible. Since the image doesn't move relative to the glass, which I think for non-gyro gunsights (the gyro sights came into use in 1944) is correct, I don't have a problem with aiming with the glass itself.
I don't have the problem with blurry ground textures.

It looks like you got some kind of bug with the texture settings.
1. Delete your cache folder and then let steam rebuild it, if you haven't done already.
2. You should try to change the texture setting during a game and see how it affects the visuals. The settings you selected might not have been porperly saved by the game. Try reducing them, save, resume game, and then increase them and check if anything's happened.
3. Delete all the conf.ini related to CloD on your laptop then let Steam rebuild them. This should give you a fresh config free of glitches.
4. If it still persists, try a clean uninstall of your videocard drivers, and reinstall them. I don't remember which drivers work better with CloD, but I'm sure there are some posts in the forum where that can be found.
5. A recent post on the forum mentionned that some poeple might need to update DirectX due to a new WindowsUpdate. The file to run is located within the CloD directory.
6. I have forgotten ! If you are running Windows 8, you need to patch CloD. Again, the tool is available somewhere on the forum.
7. Finally, if nothing is working, the last thing is to properly uninstall CloD (don't forget the files in MyDocuments) and let Steam do a fresh install.
As for the gunsight, it is probably linked as well, because, in the game, you can see the reticle even when the light is off, as a grey shade on the gunsight. can't see anything on your picture.
Hope you'll get your good textures back !

sounds like a gfx driver problem possibly ?
tried seeing if there is a known good recent driver people are using for the same gfx card as you have in your laptop ?

Does a reinstall do anything different to a Game Cache verification in Steam?

Tried all 7 - No Joy :(
Damn, I was expecting at least one of them to work :/
Did you make sure you downloaded the right drivers for your GTX680 M card?
The last one seems to be the 314.07 whql on nVidia website.
Link to your card last drivers (http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/57100), assuming you got a win8 64bits on your machine.
Or maybe CloD just doesn't like Taiwan  lol
I don't know how well done is the steam cache check, but it might let some corrupted files go through. So a reinstall is the last line of defence against a bad install. It is pretty painful though to re download 4Gigs :o

Did you try to play with the original laptop drivers located here (msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0NE.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win8%2064) ?
Could you write down a list of all the "tricks" you tried ?
thx

Whats your in-game gui settings? Make sure your running original textures and not high. All so make sure nvidia settings is FXAA on. Check my post on nvidia high end settings post.

Tries lots of different settings. No improvement. Perhaps it's an issue with Nvidia 680M although I don't have a problem with any other games.....
STRANGE!
Hi Mattius,
As you probably have the landscape details set to high (I had them on low due performance reasons and it looked quite similar to your results): I also have no clue what it can be.
Maybe, someone in the Team Fusion section of the ATAG forum can help you. There are quite some skilled guys there.
Best luck

Asking Team Fusion would be my advise too...
what`s more: Did you check if your .ini-files save the changes you are making?

My guess insufficient system not a driver problem...CLod is not really a lap top friendly game especially with Win 8 thrown in the mix :)

This not your average Laptop. 2 grands worth! It ran pretty well on a lower spec'd laptop I used to have. Definitely not performance issues!

Hello again !
It really smells like a driver compatibility issue, the issue where you're the most unpowered :( .
A few more ideas I get :
- Go on Team Fusion forum and ask. The active community is there now! Maybe they'll got a few more ideas.
- Try to contact your laptop's company customer service, for that price they should have a good one (notice the key word here is "should":grin: ). Maybe they got some ideas in stock.
If it's a driver issue it could come from anything really, not just the graphics card.
- If you feel motivated, gather all your component's drivers for Win7 and install it on another partition. But you've got to be REALLY motivated to do this only for playing CloD
I'm stumped by the fact that all the previous stuff hasn't worked :/

After getting some sound advice, consider overclocking your processer if this is a reasonable procedure on your machine.... CLoD is very processer intensive at the desktop computer level. I never had bland video like yours, but perhaps your manufacturers forum can suggest something along these lines for your laptop. It worked wonders for my CLoD video performance.

Have you read that machine's specs? It's a beast of a laptop. It surpasses most desktops.
Beside which, I'm getting the gunsight problem on a Radeon HD 6970 under Windows 7, on a desktop. If there's a switch to switch on the gunsight lamp that may be it, because I'm certainly not switching it on at the moment.
<edit 16.50 on the 13th of May 2013>
Okay, tested that, the gunsight does have to be turned on. Strange that the sun on the glass shows the sight, it really shouldn't do that, though I can imagine reasons why it might make sense from a programming point of view that that might be a predictable bug if it wasn't sorted.
