Hey fellow painters,

I made all of these JG2 logos and I figure you guys can put them to good use. I would like to ask if anyone can tell me if I have all of them in the right gruppe?

Oh and the '1/JG2' Dog logo was re-created directly off of an aircraft photo! and so was the personal insgnia of Oblt Hermann 'White 9'.

Enjoy!

I'll releasing all of JG3 'Udet' tomorrow.

Not quite.

1./JG 2 - correct (for 1940)
2./JG 2 - did not have a Staffel emblem, only displayed the Geschwader emblem
3./JG 2 - that blue triangle with the "Horrido" inscription and the sword is correct (for 1940)
What you have for 3./JG 2 was the Gruppe badge of III./JG 2 from 1941 on. by then most Staffel emblems were a thing of the past.

4., 5. and 6./JG 2 - no emblems beyond the Geschwader emblem
The emblem you depict as 6./JG 2 may be a personal or much later emblem. The emblem you assign to 4./JG 2 belongs in fact to 7./JG 2.

Your III. Gruppe emblems (apart from the "Thumb presses hat" badge of 7./JG 2) are correct, also with variations. However what you have as IV. Gruppe is a mix of various things which weren't used at the same time, for long or even at all.

10./JG2 was a semi-autonomous fighter-bomber Staffel - your emblem fits for that one - but it did not come into being before 1941. At that time the three other emblems, all of which were short-lived as the IV.(N)/JG 2 of early 1940, were long out of use. It's even questionable if any were used outside of propaganda shots.

Wow man thank you for all of thgis great info. I have been searching high and low. I will correct them today. As far as the 'Horrido Sword' is the red one the right one for after 1940 or is there a new logo entirely? Thank's again man! :)

Oh the chicken head was used on Fw-190's, so yeah not correct for this game but maybe for the upcoming Battle of Stalingrad?

Most of the Staffel emblems of 1940 disappeared in 1941 or 1942, apart from 7./JG 2 and maybe 9./JG 2 only the Gruppen/Geschwader emblems remained. I've never seen the red triangle at all ... I guess it comes from a faulty interpretation of a b/w photo.

The emblem of III./JG 2 was used on the Bf 109 and Fw 190, but since the unit was in the west and never ventured to Russia it doesn't have a place at Stalingrad. ;)

Maybe the chicken will fly in "IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of the Ruhr"? :-P

Thanks for the hard work. They are very good.
It's a shame some of the detail will diappear in the finished skins due to the resolution and size of those smaller emblems.
