I was intigued when I stumbled across this picture. It's the cover of a book, so it may well be fake. Or is it real?

99% sure that is 'created'. Don't like to call it fake.. but looks like a photoshop or similar creation to me. Scale looks all wrong. I could make that in photoshop in 10 minutes :)

Agreed, the plane is either very small or the surf is very large.

As well the water around the planes doesn´t look real... no white like at the top of the waves.... (sorry, don´t know the word in english...)

The first version I saw of the photo was lower quality than the one I posted. I must admit it looks fake on closer inspection.
You never know though.

Fake for sure as well, look at the shadows that should be over the water and aren´t there...

Meteor on the beach? I don't think that's a fake. I think thats a pretty usual situation for a Meatbox. At least this time it looks like the crew got out ok.

The shadow is there, it's just not straight because the water is lower than the bank on each side of it.

Pretty neat emergency landing by the Meteor pilot, no scratches and dents to be seen ;)

My money is on the Meteor being a runway overrun, far too little damage for a forced landing on a beach........I think the Meteor photo is real.

That meteor photo is fake, the tractor trying to pull it is way too small . But seriously... I think there should be a reflection of the wing extending from where you see the reflection of the engine in the water. The shadow, as mentioned previously, is not present on the water as well...

The Lancaster picture is certainly a "fake" but I don't think it purports to be anything other than a cover for an adventure novel. The Meteor on the other hand is most certainly genuine and I think Bongo's is the best explanation.

The Meteor had an appalling record. More than half the 'planes built ended up being written off in crashes.
