I am not trying to be a troll, but seriously nothing graphically I see really grabs me that much...

Of course there is a HUGE selection of aircraft but I am really digging the CEM that other games have to offer, what is war thunder like in that regards?

S!

No flickering shadows, no flickering trees, no LOD square around the plane etc. Those strike first. Lighting is OK if they got rid of that excessive bloom. Otherwise no comment. But good to have variety of course!

Does it run better than CLOD?

Krupi, that square around your plane is still there, they just toned it so it is harder to see. But still there. Before over France you see it very clear but now to lesser extent. Also look at the video of WarThunder, no big rivers at distance or similar. It can be all the arcade there is but some things, and I emphasize SOME things only, are better in my opinion than in CoD. Of course mileage may vary as usual.

Terrain and visuals look much better to my eyes than COD. I'd be very happy if COD progressed visually to be as good as that.

Suspect that COD will have more depth and be superior in other ways (or will when it's fixed...!)

..and before someone jumps in to say fps improved and no crashes with latest beta, that's not what I'm talking about. When I say 'fixed' - I mean AA, clouds and weather, decent UI, dynamic campaign, working coms, correct control configurations (eg Spitfire mixture setting), accurate FMs, tweaked terrain...and probably a few more that escape my memory at this moment....oh yeah working mirrors, tree collision detection...

Yeah, resigned to waiting for the sequel.

Just my personal take though. I'm happy that more people are enjoying it now, especially online. Really I am. Just unfortunate that I'm not one of them.

Shame. There is much fun to be had, in spite of what you just said.

As to 'War Thunder', just the bloody title puts me off.

P.S. I couldn't watch the video link posted for some reason, so I googled 'War Thunder Trailer'.

So it's Gaijin. Again. Using the old IL2 engine. And why do we always have to watch second world war aircraft flying along to heavy rock music?

I like a bit of heavy rock music myself, but with second world war aircraft it's just bloody incongruous.

I am doin a bit hard to understand some posts...
At the end WarThunder is complete Arcade even on the "highest level" compared to Clod or even IL2- 1946.
The game belongs into the same box like World of tanks or maybe Hawkx (or what it is called)
It depends to everyones aspiration.
If i want to fly the most decent WW" Simulator i will take Clodo, not minding its still present bugs which arnt that tough as u couldnt stand it.
If i want to give it a quick shot for 10 mins online I would take WarThunder.

But WarThunder has just no simulation character at the end and that is actually the point everyone has to decide what to play.

Looks good, graphically. Would like to see more - weather, large cumulus cloud formations up close, water up close, forested terrain, cities, etc.....and cockpits! Certainly a certain crowd is targeted, but that hopefully will pull them still further into more involved PC combat flight sims.

Or back to Call of Duty...

Fly over London its VERY obvious there. I fly with everything on full and you see the buildings being drawn quite obviously ahead of you. It is not at all visible in WT, DCS, FSX, RoF, BMS nor is it visible in any other sim I fly on full settings. You are just used to it, like the non working mirror, flickering tree shadows and no antialiasing shimmering.

That said CoD has better FM and in other areas. Just not graphics.

Apart from ROF no other sim I have seen looks better than COD.

Looks like a il2 orginal play with the amount of planes, but it looks like it is a "shooting" game for boys. The graphic is not good after what I have seen on youtube. And the RL features is far away.

I just checked the site out...$80 for 4 planes....no thanks! Plus more money for achievements, most likely.

MMO is a sad model, IMHO.

$80 dollars for four aircraft and access to a global beta? I got a better deal than that from 1C (still playing their global beta mind).

playing warthunder for 2 weeks now, and it is alot of fun.
It has all the features as in il2 but made easier.

I think at the moment it is a tie....well six of and half dozen of the other anyway. WT graphics are not quite as nice, but more polished and has AA, no shimmering landscape, flickering tree shadows and the buildings don't pop up on high settings and better clouds ATM.

If CoD were to be as nice as it was on release and fix all its graphics problems, then CoD would have better graphics for sure.

Here's hoping that happens.

Hopefully IC/MG will get it right (otherwise it will be extremely depressing).

Agree Marmusman

Just like ROF and other MMO game. Pay for play and pay for win. Some people complain about they dont get enof for the money, they have spent on CLOD. They will not buy the sequel if not ...... to me it looks quite Odd.

I'm sure it will be a great arcade game, but I doubt they will put even a faction of effort into the FM/DM of the game that CloD has. I doubt it will even be on par with 1946.
