I get the feeling that the next official update for CLoD may be the last. Here are the items I would most like to see on the next update. Please feel free to add to the list:
-Fix glitches and add missing sounds
-Improve AI
-Improve FM
-Simplify procedure to record/play missions
-Add feature to toggle Icons
-Add simplified gun sight pipper like IL-2…don’t care for the floating circle
-Make cockpit zoom independent of outside view zoom

A QMB like the old one would be nice

I am going to dream here ok, so dont flame me, but I would love to see a new BoB flyable plane (British Bomber?) given to us for "time served" over this period of beta testing and such. It would be a nice gesture :D

As long as everything is as real as possible. If the sights floated because the pilot head moves its accurate then perfect.

True it may be the last patch for the standalone version of CoD. But remember I'm sure this sim will be able to be marged into the sequel. So any updates for the sequel will benefit CoD if you buy the new sim which I plan on doing.

Some things I can think of off the top of my head :
- A few more weather options, just 2-3 more would already mix it up.
- Graphical option that allows buildings to be drawn from 5km (ideally 10km) height.
This is crucial for bombers.
- The elusive bug where groups of (player piloted) German bombers cause huge
FPS-drops/stutters.
- Netcode given a quick go over...we'd really like to be able to play with more than 40
people online without everything going to sh*t.
- FM's improved, it's fe. silly that the brits need to watch their temps like a hawk while
109's can fly full WEP all day without overheating.
- Gear showing as being down online to other players, happens mostly (i think?) on the
109 and He-111.
- One extra flyable bomber for the brits, guessing the Beaufighter would be the easiest
to do.
- Fix online disconnect while recording tracks, ideally add a mappable hotkey to
start/stop recording too.
That's all for now, if even a few of these were adressed I'd be happy.

I used to believe that, but now that 1C is planning on an MMO for a sequel I am not as certain as I used to be that the games will merge together.

-A QM builder interface just like IL2.
-The ability in SP to change the experience level of enemy pilots
-Much more items placed around airfields...planes, people, etc.

1. Just a little further optimization in terms of stuttering (i STILL have stutters in game, but my fps are never less than 30 fps thx to the new medium effects setting... avg 50 which is great basically, but there is still a "decent" amout of stuttering low level) Apart from this I am quite happy with the performance right now! If further optimization to remove stuttering isnt possible without dumbing things down, i am fine with that too! as long as better hardware can erase stutters etc eventually its okay for me!
2. steady work on the FM/DM, but they are on the right way I think! (this includes correction of some mistakes in cockpit modelling as well, like the Blenheim boost gauge, the many many minor flaws in the 109 and 110 cockpit (see bugtracker)and in other planes)
3. bugfixing of the long list of minor bugs which are annoying due to the sheer amount of it (retracted landing gear online; AI gunner control; weird red graphic bugs in cockpit when wounded; objects can be seen through clouds etc.)
4. Fully operational Communications system
5. Bring back high clouds, maybe canopy reflection in the distance and better view of distant objects like buildings (bombing is a little hard right now, because the targets appear way too late)
6. Enhance and improve sounds (sometimes missing AA and enemy gun fire hit sounds; more ambient sounds like tweeting birds, working sounds on an airfield, crushing waves etc; sounds of smashing und crushing glass and gauges when your cockpit is hit) In general: I want just more sounds to get this thing ALIVE so it feels real!
7. Physics: broken parts of another aircraft should damage you if you are hit by them (this would revolutionize the combat in terms of caution by an attack etc)
Tree collision model (this would revolutionize emergency landings and low level combat)
8. Some corrections of the netcode (this includes the landing gear retracted bug and other flaws while flying online)
This is my personal wishlist for CloD. If they can manage to correct these mistakes, I consider this game as "complete and totally awesome to play" I know this seems to be a huge list, but some of this bugs should be pretty easy to solve while others take more time. Anyway this is no waste of time for the devs, because nearly all of it is necessary for a successful sequel either way!
Every other extension, like a fully functional weather system (maybe dynamic, but not necessarily), navigation and landing lights or the MUCH NEEDED Coop System has time till the release of the sequel... of course then all new features should be applied to CloD as well!!

Sorry if this seems to get a bit off topic....but it does have to do with a wish..
Regarding an S D. K., How did IL-2:1946 become a modded game? Was it an S.D.K. that opened it up? Did Maddox/1C release or open the code up? Or was it more a hack, then they decided to support it?
Just curious if the "fixes" everybody wants are possible via a MOD community. 1946 turned into a really awesome platform via the Mod community. Or are those days gone? Or do we have to wait 10 years again?

Lol ... c´mon, i asked seriously.
My neighbor was having drinks with Luthier at DWF International Airport's AA-Admiral's Club during a recent layover on his way to LA. He said and I quote "We will do one more official update for Cliffs of Dover and then will give BOM all our attention moving forward in anticipation of the December 7 release." Then he made my neighbor swear that he would keep this information to himself. Well, he obviously didn’t and I thought it was my duty to report it here. You're welcome.

Hello,
FIX RADIO COMMANDS
some of us are offliners

Good choices there folks.
The floating circle is the predictor sight and should be there on aircraft that were fitted with that type of sight i guess to be accurate.
Dont think many RAF aircraft had them in Battle of Brittain???.
Yeah also a record play function would be good....Hey what about an editor too? like Rise of flights would be great.:-)

Would be nice if your wingmen just did not hang on your coatails all the time thats plain wrong.
You say attack and what do you get? ....Nothing.
Oh well it should be at least as good as 1946 I think.
Keep it simple but affective.

Yes IL2 had Forgotten battles, then Pacific Fighters and then 1946,it just got better and better.
Next for clod should be battle over europe,Italian campaign,Desert opperations and then over the Berlin.....Lots still to do there and lots of different new planes.
The rest of the war is there Oyster i guess.

When did it become assumed that the next retail patch will be the last? And when did that become okay?
Unless the next patch fixes a lot of things, I'll be pretty pissed off if it's the last one.

Seriously while I want the Do17 flyable do we really need another blue bomber atm?
The reds should get the Beaufighter, its already modelled it just needs a cockpit... one of my favourite two engine planes.

I have managed to get multiplayer co-op working but it is not straight forward and would be great to have a simple interface to enable to play some missions with a few friends over LAN etc.

For the way i play i feel the game is rather ok for now.
Sure there are some kinks and less good things, but nothing that will get me irritated so won't even start the game till fixed.
What i do wish they would look into is getting the sound working for when your plane gets hit.
So irritating noticing getting hit first when it's all to late.
In old IL-2 it sounded like trowing pebbles on a tin roof getting MG shots hitting plane and like a big rock on the same from getting hit by that 20mm cannon
Ir got you almost instantly breaking off after first few plonks on your plane, and not like now first when you are out of the fight :(

But now its historical... some plane retour home whit many hole... and the pilot only notice how lucky he was

Just did a quick mission and offline you do hear hits landing on your aircraft.
Guess it's a online thing.

Me too, I assume that its a problem of the netcode which needs to be looked at. Same thing is the sometimes missing engine sounds of other players planes. Never had this issue offline, but online it is a pretty common thing unfortuneately :-(
Apart from that I really really hope that the upcoming official patch will not be a final patch for CloD. When you look only at the bugtracker buglist (even if you dont take the features category of the bugtracker into consideration) there are literally tons of things which needs to be corrected!
I understand that time is precious, but these bugs have to be removed at some point.... the sooner the better... and of course better for the sales figures of the sequel
