gee man, it was a joke, isn't banter allowed anymore? Nobody else seems to have taken things on the wrong side..

hehehe I was looking for more info to see at what distance they did it, that surely didn't come cheap, you're looking at a couple of thousand dollars just in ammo!

The belting was wrong.
Too much AP and not enough APIT and incendiary.

I watched it again and my conclusion is that the target must be some 100 yards away. As per the convergence yes, I agree, and it took quite some time to do a good convergence, I think the chaps here were just trying to do something unique and didn't bother with doing an accurate alignment. Although not converging, it still looks like a very good concentration to me! :-)

please let's not turn this into yet another puerile battle of "my plane is better than yours", this is a thread on a P-51 with live guns, let's try and stick to the topic, namely P-51 or other aircraft with live/blank guns, thanks..

I find it pretty cool to see these guns firing from an actual warbird. We've only seen gun cam footage from 1940s era cameras to distort things, or Hollywood effects with tons of smoke and fire shooting out. It's pretty cool to see how it really looks and sounds.
I hope they can get it shooting with some tracers from the air eventually and we can really see how tracers look with modern camera technology and sounds.

Yeah, that would be very cool but I don't think it will ever happen :-(
There's a glimp of tracers from the video, but I couldn't find other footage on it, what's interesting is seeing details like the recoil of the barrels and the fact that spent cases and links come out half a second after they've been shot and not straight away.

I own rifles and am a supporter of the Brady bill, and background checks and I don't mind an assault weapon or large magazine ban.
I think the P-51 Mustang with live .50 cals video is pretty great! I would love some evening + tracers videos.
Stern, maybe figure out the stereotypes you want to believe in are not really that accurate (they are usually just 'talking points' people are more complicated than the one dimension you seem to want us to have).
Cheers ;)

it was only banter mate, fact is that with an automatic guns ban we wouldn't have been able to see this in our lifetime. I think there's a dear need for common sense in the whole firearms scenario, not a prohibition.

After the Port Arthur shootings, the Australian Government, forced gun buy back of semi-automatic firearms and pump actioned shot guns. (though they never did quite explain why pump actioned rifles were ok????)
One guy in the Northern Territory had been collecting Hispano cannons, and had accumulated about a dozen in various states of repair.
All ended up in the smelter. :( Museums would have been more appropriate.

Part of the problem.
First they came for the evil black rifles,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't own any evil black rifles.
Then they came for the standard capacity magazines,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't use any standard capacity
magazines.
Then they came for the handguns,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't own any.
Then they came for my rifles
and there was no one left to speak out for them.

Then again Stern, some folks are quite one-dimensional in their arguments. I guess opposing views really bother some people to the point where they can not articulate themselves very well... :D
Cheers
