I'm sure a lot of you already know about this one. Maybe some don't.
Wasteland was an amazing game that pretty much ushered in a lot of the RPG elements that we take for granted today. Even Mass Effect 3 owes a debt to Wasteland.
Brian Fargo (producer of MANY key RPGs like Fallout 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate, Bard's Tale, and more) wants to make Wasteland 2 but big publishers wont fund it.
We saw what Double Fine did with 'Double Fine Adventure'. There's a kind of 'gamer's spring' thing going on here that I think is absolutely important in an age where big giant publishers dictate what kind of games get made instead of what kind of games people want to play.
I urge people to back Wasteland 2 (and Double Fine Adventure, but you can't now - buy it when it's out!) and help to bring about a new age of gaming where game developers can go back to making games based on what they think will make a good game instead of what will make a good selling game. Besides, if Wasteland 2 is anything like the original it'll be amazing.
Just look at what happened to Syndicate. Look at what's become of MS Flight Simulator. THAT'S where things have been heading for the last 10 years. Let's turn this thing around!
Plus, if you back the game you'll be able to complain on ANOTHER forum and argue that you paid for the right to do so :P (just a joke).
Happy Backing!

EDIT: "Sure, backing these games is nice, but these titles are using budgets too small to make a real difference."
To that I say, maybe so right now. But this is the start. If these two games take off and come out amazing and end up selling tons of copies (just look at Minecraft) then more AAA developers might start looking at this. I can't think of a developer who has anything truly nice to say about their relationship with a big publisher outside of the fact that they pay to make the game happen. If WE start deciding what games get made at this scale...it's only a matter of time, I think, before larger titles start getting made this way. Flight simulators maybe? :)
