ok heres what i think short version from the ammo types i remember off my head.
tracers are obvious to see where im hitting
incendary for fuel tanks
AP for engine blocks
thats about the basics im sure it going to get more technical
and a thx ahead for all the input :)

since i´m aiming for engines most of the time, i use 50% AP and 50% incendiary with the odd tracer thrown in the mix.

Pros: If u hit the right spot, a short burst will take out most engines, thus ending the mission for the unlucky one.

Cons: I find it hard setting fuel tanks on fire, probably due to my rather poor gunnery :D .

You might browse the forum searching for very detailed answers.

Perso mine is rubbish to say the least so it won't be of any help.

AP, regular Ball and De Wilde are the favoured types + Tracer as an option. The mix is down to you - try various and test them in game - I use the same loadout for all ac types - a mix of reg ball, AP and De-wilde but no tracers.

Incendiary is not just for fuel tanks, it will set other stuff on fire...

Its a bug Jinz afaik m8..

I went into the FMB and setup my belts there, then afaik when you then select it in SP or MP it does actually work..

Again im not 100% on that..been away for a while

You can set your ammo belts in SP but DO NOT hit the Back Button when you have set your guns up. Once finished, select SAVE AS - type in your name and only select the OK button to exit each menu.

Thanks to GRathos 335 for that tip!

To confirm that the loadout has saved:-

Navigate to the game folder in the 1cPublishing director and using Notepad or Wordpad open the USER.INI file. Convergence and Loadouts are stored there with whatever name you gave that loadout.

When you re-launch the game you should see your custom loadouts listed in the weapons loadouts menu by whatever name you gave them.

Never tried them in quick missions because I editted most of my quick mission files into FMB and altered them to Single or alterntive Quick missions but using the custom loadouts I created for the AC I wanted to use.

Untill I read that post by GRathos I had never been able to save/load any custom loadout - I was hitting the Back Tab to exit the menus and it stops the custom loadouts from saving properly. I will try one of my unmodded QM scenarios and let you know!

EDIT#

You are right Cheesehawk, even when saved you can't select them in quick or single missions. You have to open the mission file in FMB then select the saved loadout and save the mission file. The info I posted is only helpfull if you cannot save the weapons loadouts or see them in MP or FMB.

In the quick or single missions the only profile that will work is the "default".

So, if you abslutely must have your own loadout in a quick or single mission, save it under the name "default"
[I never experimented with the ammo belt but, this is the way I managed to load bombs to my 109-4B and ME-110).

I think for a Quick Mission loadout is saved inside the mission. You can copy the mission to Single Missions folder and edit it in FMB to have the loadout you want IIRC.

For offline and COOPs loadouts are defined by a mission maker not by user to enforce using appropriate for the mission or historical loadouts.
