For me its realistic engine management, Im still struggling with this, as I just about get to grips with using a real joystick..

The only thing hard about CEM is that we have no manual that gives us operating limits and settings for the aircraft, so it's all been a long road of trial and error figuring out how best to operate the various aircraft in the sim.
And, sadly the way we do it now will probably change with the next patch.
Some of the aircraft are so far off real world published operational data that it isn't even funny. (The air cooled radials suffer the most in this regard).

how long have you got?....for me though the worst thing is the constant crashing every 30 mins.

Seing a repeat of IL-2 series
2001:
IL-2 Sturmovik -> I gave up due to bugs
2003:
IL-2 Forgotten Battles: Gold Pack
-> I was affraid to buy due to my experiance with Sturmovik
2004
IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles Ace Expansion Pack
-> I was affraid to buy due to my experiance with Sturmovik
2004
IL-2 Pacific Fighters
-> Bought it (as a bargain) and got interested again but not enough to go online or buy the successors
2006:
Ultimate Flight Collection
-> I was still affraid to buy due to my experiance with Sturmovik
2007:
IL-2 1946
-> The same friend who I wanted to fly IL-2 Sturmovik with came and said it was worth buying. I had become mature.
This took 6 years
Will it take another six years and 4+ expansions?

From my view... the hole game is very hard.... played abit today :) and i crashed like 8 times on take off in on a multiplayer server hehe ... but its still fun..
this is also my first sim..
As its a game that takes alot of know how..seems also that you need to play alot around with key setups and such. get the setup you want..
Hope it helps :)

The hardest thing for me is two things:
1) What El Aurens said. No documentation. I reread the manual in hopes of finding some info I maybe looked over the first time on how to start each plane up and not kill the engine. So far it's been youtube videos for me and trial and error, flipping switches and seeing what does what...
There should be a training mission for each plane that is an intro to the plane, similar to DCS A10. Explains the plane, a little history on it, and what everything in the cockpit does and settings to get it up in the air and blow stuff up.
2) Really bad menus and interface. I got this game for my brother for xmas, as we both flew IL2 together a lot online. It took us over an hour to figure out how to get online and spawn in and hook up and dogflight or fly with eachother. The menu and spawning system is so clunky.
I realllly hope they redesign this for BoM. All they have to do to look for inspiration is check out Rise of Flight. THAT is how you create a quick mission screen. It's all on one screen, very intuitive with dials not boring drop down menus.

Aiming. My joystick is all over the place , I can't get the cross hairs to stay in one spot , the rudder is hyper sensitive . It seems like I 'm always adjusting the joystick sensitivety .The axis adjustments really don't make a lot of difference .
