Is it just me, or do the graphics look the exact same as FSX?
I hope they don't focus on a simplified "Game" aspect to much. But its free so if someone doesn't like it they can't complain very much, (unlike other sims ;)).
Anyway, I think I'll try the free part when it comes out.

It would seem Microsoft has adopted the ROF business model. The basic game(with very limited planes) is free but additional planes cost money.
Let us hope that they support it better than their previous endeavors.
I did not notice a definite release date, just TBA 2012.That is a large window.

From the Flight website:
"Today, Microsoft Studios premiered Microsoft Flight, a PC game that lets players jump into the challenge, fun, and freedom of flight. Microsoft Flight will be available as a free download this spring, giving players the freedom to fly the skies over the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii, complete a variety of exciting missions, test their skills in flying challenges, or find hidden aerocaches on the island."

I have to say, the ground/building textures reminds me of Pilotwings 64 for the Nintendo 64, absolutely horrendous. On a brighter note, it's free! so who am I to complain. I've read up on it and apparently there is up to 16 people multiplayer where you can complete missions together (flying through rings?). Only comes with one plane, that little seaplane thingie BUT if you have a Windows games live account (it's also free) and log in with it in the game you will receive the Boeing Stearman, the American Tigermoth(?) free of charge. If you have an Xbox360 live account you can use that too since it's basically also a Windows games live account.
I have no expectations so I will check it out when it's released.

They made a new video with actual game play... addman is right, the ground/water textures and detail looks HORRIBLE! :-x
Looks very arcade-like too.

About half way though the first video
"especially built for a gamer who's use to a mouse and a keyboard... Microsoft flight works just as well with a joystick"????????
This will indeed be 'interesting'!

What is wrong with Silverlight? Never used it, but I keep hearing people making knowing comments about the thing like it is evil incarnate, without explaining why.

Microsoft commited a suicide in flight simulation:

It's time to take advantage on that, some modern civillian planes in CoD, if developed by third party creators, coult start a nice expansion. Thousands of civillian flightsimmers might be interested in CoD all of a sudden :)

MS Flight looks really rather dated.

Being in the Beta it's really hard to not say anything but without talking features or anything to break my NDA - but I have to say that Flight really is growing on me from a really frustrating start with all the "game" stuff. And the graphics engine is actually a good step ahead of FSX even if the screenshots and videos may not show that...

Maybe a historic civil flight sim?
Flying a FW200 civil airliner from Paris to London in 1937.
Or a Ford Trimot, or a Ju52, or a DC2 / DC3.
A G38 from Berlin to Moskau,
A flight shool with biplanes for the future ATP's in the 30's, then taking the chance to enlist to fly the racy planes like He111 or Do17.
Could really be a tour through aviation history.
AAhh, those dreams again...
