Havent checked in for a while (launch disaster). How is the game working now days? Is it playable and is there any multiplayer to talk about? Did ppl leave to roll back to Sturmovik?
I hated the launch but i dont wanna give up yet. With little hard drive space left i wanna know if its worth reinstalling today.

it is playable, there are at least two servers ( ATAG & Repka ) full switch settings with the typical dogfightserver action.
If you get proplems running the game, there are typical some workarounds to try first. If you running into proplems, just report here. there are a lot of smart people helping.

There has been some significant improvements in both the sound and performance department, I think you will be very pleased with the sounds especially. There's a patch in the pipelines also, the king of all patches so far it seems, it's been delayed though since the devs have run in to some complications. Anywho, welcome back! :)

Can't add much more to Frankyboy's and Addman's greetings, other than to say it'd be great to see you on the ATAG server. Be sure to install Teamspeak 3 (if you don't have it already) -- we have a friendly group of guys on both the Blue (Axis) and Red (Allied) sides who'd be more than glad to get you up to speed. And you may just spot that bandit sneaking up their six in return! LOL
Post here if you need any further specifics!

The performances depend very much on your PC. All of the following conditions must be reunited to have a smooth experience at High settings:
Win 64 bit
4-core CPU, possibly O/C'ed at >4 GHz
recent video card (2010 generation), with 1.28 GB at least, and possibly nVidia
4 GB RAM or more
Failure is probable if you have at least one of the following conditions:
Windows XP
Edit: video cards with less than 1 GB (512 MB is a no go), mid range cards older than 2009, or high range cards older than 2008
Edit: SLI/Crossifire of two feeble video cards (SLI and XFire is not granted to work well)
Cheers,

".....ATI 5xxx or older cards"
That seems a bit harsh. My 5870 manages pretty well, thanks.

My 5870 does pretty good as well, however Insuber as a point, the more VRAM the better with COD.
I would look to have 6 GB of RAM, my system is using more than 4 GB of RAM (total) while running COD.

i knew that it was a bit harsh, so I will happily correct the post with your comments. I believe that the community should define a red line on H/W minimum requirements.

Elixx,
The sim is great.
Most of the problems with the sim was "user error" in my case.
My sim time now is 50% ClOD and 50% IL-2 HSFX SEOW.

I'm inclined to agree with others who say you're being a bit harsh for a smooth experience at high settings. I think any decent quad over 3Ghz is sufficient, and while you definitely need a powerful GPU, 2Gb is definitely not the requirement for higher settings. My 570 runs things quite smoothly at higher settings (offline) and it only has 1280mb of VRAM. Obviously the more the merrier, but still I think the quality of the card comes far before the amount of VRAM it has. The rest is fair, a quad is certainly the way to go and I wouldn't want to try and run it with less than 4Gb of ram.

Yes.. look for the server with 'ATAG' in the title/discription.. Tends to have about 30 or so players in it.. Tons of fun! The Bf110 is a 'BLAST' to fly.. Pun intended! (ie nice guns!) ;)

The game is awesome, people have been moving over from IL2 1946 by the truck load. And its only getting better from here!
I have not been having any problems with the Sim, the launcher crash sure but it is faaaar from being a deal breaker for me.
Really its a great time to be playing Cliffs of Dover

+1. No major complaints on my setup. Fireballs/dust/clouds slow me down but that's about it. Can't go back to 1946 now...
