Just a quick note for anyone using it that FaceTrackNoIR v 1.60 has now been released: http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/information_links/download.htm

I've not tried it yet, but it is supposed to have solved the previous problems with i5/i7 processors, as well as having other improvements.

Beta version.

" Actually, we have chosen to release this version as a full-version". Presumably the beta was stable enough for full release.

Anyone using it? Wondering how it compares with freetrack.

I haven't tried it
since previous version I tried but the thing is I can't look back I can only look left and right no more than that. also pitch is not working only +-30 degrees. Which makes me feel like I'm in zoom view of CloD even though I'm not.

On top of that zooming in and out is just opposite even if I reverse it on the settings.

I changed curve settings to figure out all these issues, no difference I don't even feel the change with different curves.

I only like the tilting I think this one is working properly.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Since they released it under the beta label I assumed "full version" meant there were no crippled features but it was still beta.

If it were stable it would be under the stable download section not the beta section.

In any case it is a step forward.

I tried v1.5 with mixed results. It seemed intermittent and very touchy about indirect lighting. When it was working I was able to use all 6 degrees of freedom.

I gave it a quick test in Rise of Flight, and it seemed to work fine, once I got it to recognise the camera (I reinstalled the faceAPI Headtracking Demo, as suggested here http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/manual/knownissues.htm, which fixed it). I'll have to adjust the profiles to suit, but it seemed less prone to 'losing track' than the earlier version. It is sensitive to lighting conditions, but I think that is more or less inevitable, given the way it works. I'll see how it works with CloD, but I'm not anticipating any new problems. I'm not sure what you mean by 'crippled features' Troll2K - it provides everything you could reasonably expect, and the user interface is once again an improvement on previous versions. Anyway it's free...

I just have tried it. It´s not bad to be free and works far better than previous versions, but still no so good to go into fast combat with it as it easily loose track in fast movements and very wide angles. Also need to be very interpolated to be stable which is slow ( or I have a very weird face, witch also can be ). Anyway is a good work, keep going. The day it works near TIR without hat or any stuff will be a complete winner. For now I´m keeping my TIR 3 which still woks like a charm.

hey guys!
i have track ir so i personally am not interested in facetracknoir, but i ask this for a friend of mine.
i could convince him to buy il1946 and now i gave him my russian version of clod, although he isnt really interested in flight sims.but he enjoys to fly with me now and then online, although he has yet to make is first kill....anyway his biggest problem is to hold contact to enemy planes with his coolie hat on his stick.he always complains that its impossible for him to track other planes while steering his own.i suggested him to buy track ir, but he is of the opinion, that its just too expenisve for his purpose, as he is not flying really regularly, but only now and then.
so to come to my initial question: does this really work..?i mean is it really useful in clod?
and do one to have a good webcam for this to work properly?

I think this one is best for these regular fly boys :). It is not easy at first but when u adjust for your need is much better than hat on stick. For the web cam I use very cheap 13$ one it is working good. The bad news is it sometimes get jerky while looking around. But good calibration will fix it. Need to have good machine to run both Clod and facetracknoir.

thx for your answer....well the machine he has shouldnt be a problem, cause he is one of those guys who buys every year a new high end rig.
so a normal webcam should work properly and one dont have to buy a expensive one...good to know.thx again.
