i bought a plystation portable two years ago and hardly used it

now the warranty is finished ive hacked it to use homebrew software and now i use it all the time since i use it as a portable pc:

i read comics, i read books, i surf the web, i watch youtube videos, i even play old quarter machines

the only thing i dont use it for its to play psp games

so seems i buy a very capable transportable pc of 300 mhz and two gigas of ram but sony cripples it dont know why

my sister told me its the same with the ipad, why this trend?

I think they fear you loading an emulator on a game platform and never buying another game from them... (so they would see it as a loss of sales and not adding value).

Because there is a new and better (arguable) version they want you to buy. especially in the case of apple "things". But mainly the patent laws have got so out of hand together with social & political correctness.
