Fighters do not escort bombers when they are assigned to do so.
They attack the first bunch of enemy fighters leaving the bombers on their own.

Assigning "follow" does also not work, same result.

Anyone a suggestion?

There are reports below that people can not get fighters to attack fighters which is the opposite to your problem.

Maybe these 2 settings just mixed up? Try assigning attack fighters waypoint.

And btw try making sure the pathways of fighters do not cross. Some reports say when pathways cross, they attack.

No did not work, is probably coding of AI.

This is a RL issue  Historically when Göring ordered fighters to escort bombers in close formation in BoB they were not happy at all. Fighters preferred to actively hunt enemy fighters long before they approach bombers.

This is a difficult dilemma for the devs to resolve :)

I made a mission with first spitfires coming in. All 109's attack these spits, the hurricanes who arrive later are not bothered at all. They could attack the bombers freely, I assigned a flight of 109's to attack these hurri's but all they do is attack the first bunch of fighters they see. Hope this will get some attention in the AI/command structure.

yes, mission scripting.

via scripting, you can find out an airgroup's current (waypoint) state, and change it in anything else you want to (ie adding new waypoint/states/targets).
