Hi, many times in the games when I press things on my keyboard nothing happends. like if I want to open the canopy or take out my wheels, nothing. Sometimes I have to press many times before something happends.
Same with throttle and trim axes for the prop and mixture.
But usually it doesnt help to press many times.
I have to jank my throttle all the up until the throttle responds, and THEN verything works. this happends all the time.
It is like the game forgets me if I dont press buttons all the time.

The only thing that is stable all the time is the main joystick axes

There's a difficulty option called "anthromorphic" or something like that ... If activated it simulates the real pilot having two hands only. For example in a 109 you cannot operate your flaps and push/pull the throttle lever at the same time. ;)

.. and if your a gunner, sometimes the gun cannot be fired it jammed, pilot bouncing around the sky, time taken to replace ammo cartridge etc etc etc

Well that's what I'm assuming anyway.

I disabled the anthromorphic controls and now it works the way I want it!
Thanks! This sim is really incredible. All we need now is a dynamic campaign similar to what Red Baron 3d had :)

I have a similar problem, but only with the 109 and the Italian bomber. In all of the other a/c, the flaps work fine. But, in those two, the flaps will go to down, then to neutral, or up, and then to neutral. It isn't the anthropmorphic setting. I have tried disabling it.

Anyone have this problem, or can suggest a cure?

Thanks,

Your words in Luthier's ear , a real DC would be just awesome.
But in the meantime you can also try The Enlightened Florist's DC, available for download at airwarfare.com. It's not everything you would want but for a start it's very, very nice. Just make sure you follow the install instructions included in the download.

I assume you have one button mapped for lowering flaps and one button for raising the flaps.
If in a 109 you press the button to lower the flaps hold it and look down and to your left. You will see the wheel spinning as long as you hold the button, which means in order to fully extend the flaps you have to keep the wheel spinning/keep the button pressed. As soon as you let go of the button you will get the message "flaps neutral", they are not in neutral at that point, they are in the position you left them in when you let go of the button, it just means you stopped spinning the wheel.
The same functionality goes for the water radiator in a 109, which is controled by a spinning handle.
The devs modeled it that way to simulate you actually having to spin something to alter a control surface as compared to just flipping a switch like you do in a Spitfire.

You know, I think I read about this some time ago in another thread, but forgot about it, until you mentioned it above. I'll try again tonight.

Thanks for the response,

I tried and liked it a lot. A lot more immersive to not have a scripted campaign.
But in the dynamic campaign, is it a number of planes on both sides, or is it unlimited?
And how does it work, does the A.I generate missions? Like, if german bombers want to attack a city you get warned. Or is it the radar who pick up movements and make assumptions where the enemy will be?
My dream simulator will be il2 cliffs of dover with a dynamic campaign where there are a multiple set of planes on each base, and you have to maintain your planes, repair them, use parts etc....and u have a limited supplies of parts to repair. Same with ammunition and so on. And a full pilot lists, damaged pilots, their rank, status, and kill score.
And maybe a walk around in the base, bar, hangar, new recruits and so on.
This way you will a combination of a game and a simulator.
Thats what I liked about Red Baron 3d. It was so full of "life". Not just a "dead" sim.
But today I cant get it to run with my Saitek 52 joystick :(
I have windows 7 64 bit professional.

The TEF DC is not that andvanced, but it's better than scripted.
I never had so far a bomber attack on my own airfield where I had to scramble.
The number of planes you can set in the setup menu after you start a new campaign, minimum and maximum as well as a min and max skill level for the ai pilots. The number of airplanes generated for the missions will be a random number between the two parameters you set and a random mix of plane types within that number.

He wrote it a while a go, so no 109E4s available. I think TEF is rather occupied otherwise right now, so there hasn't been an update yet to his DC.

But I do hope that from some source we will one day get a fully dynamic campaign. As far as the community is concerned, I am sure noone will write anything until at least the final version of the next patch is released or maybe one after that, since some vital things are not yet working, like radio commands.

Thanks for the info!
I am using track IR 3. Bought it in 2006. Still uses it.
I see you have track IR 5. what is different about it?
And can you recommend a good joystick. Before I used Thrustmaster hotas with forcefeedback. I liked that far better than my Saitek 52. But the thrusmtaster broke (after over 6 years abuse). So now I am kind of stuck with x 52.
I had much better control and aim and feel with the thrustmaster forcefeedback joystick.
Can you recommend some joysticks?

NedLynch,

Your advice on getting the flaps down worked as advertised.

Thanks again,

Great, happy I could help.

As for the track ir, this was actually my first track ir so I have no personal experience to compare other versions. But on their website it says this version has a higher dpi and angle of view or something along those lines. If yours works for you then why change it?

I am fairly inexperienced as well when it comes to good flightsticks, this one is actually the most expensive one I have had so far at $60..ish

Generally I would think you get what you pay for, I would use the search function, as far as I remember there was a pretty good thread about sticks at some point. The one brand where people say the sticks look rather not so elegant but work like a charm is CH. I believe they have 3 sticks to choose from. I might get one of those for myself as a xmas present .

If you want FFB of course there are not may out there and you'll pay for the feature.
And then it all depends if with a new stick you need a throttle as well for a nice HOTAS setup or as close to that as possible. I am quite happy with the 3lever/6+3 buttons quadrant I have and at another $60...ish it didn't brake the bank either.
