Luthier announced on 31 Aug 2011 (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=25747) that work will soon begin on the map building SDK.

Two videos previewing the map building utility were released a long time ago. See HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KozuhKXGDoY) and HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7CPSMn9iQA). From these, and thinking about how I would want to make maps, here's my wishlist for the SDK.

1. GUI selectable textures (already in the demo vid's)
2. GUI selectable airfields (store & retieve different airfield configurations like the textures)
3. A real copy/cut - paste - rotate function. What I mean is not just rotate every object (which misaligns objects in a group), but rotate the entire object group so that each object stays at the same angle relative to each other object.
4. Importing of STRM (and other) height data.
5. GUI editing/clipping/cropping of STRM datasets.
6. GUI (easy) autopopulation of towns etc. (store & retieve different town configurations like the textures)
7. Airfields - Not all airfields were exactly level; some were flat but sloping, other may be slightly concave or convex along the runway length. Menu item to level ground (for airfields), with options to level at height X (rather than mostv fields which are at height 0, or to have a sloping airfield by say leveling from height X at one end to height Y at another. Perhaps even with an option to have a little ground variation, ie vary leveling by 0=perfectly level gradient; leveling=0.5 introfuces random 0.5m variations in height over the leveling area.
8. WYSIWYG GUI. Building must be WYSIWYG for ease of map construction.
