Some rules are forming very fast... for Pilot's Lounge
These rules are effective from the time this forums was created. There is no grace period for previous postings. If you have made postings that violate these rules you might want to delete or edit them ASAP.
This forums will not be a trash talk gathering place for people that have little or no interest in Il2 or Cliffs of Dover.
1. - No one is accepted for posting in the Pilot's Lounge unless the poster has made at least 50 postings on the Il2-Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover forums and moderators are assured they are sensible, productive or on topic postings. You may appeal this by sending PM to a mod and we will in turn look into your request. You may be allowed to post here on a probationary period, if you have a marginal posting record here.
2. If you are allowed a probationary membership and you break the rules, you will be banned for a minimum of 2 weeks. You may be allowed back on the forums after that time on probation again.
3. Mods can ban anyone at any time for any infraction on the basis of their own judgment and rule violations. If you get banned here, remember you are banned on the rest of the 1C forums as well. This is not a thrashing floor to pull stunts, troll, personally attack other posters and just post trash talk even if it is Off topic.
4. Sanity and civility will prevail here as on the rest of this forums. The purpose was to allow discussions that don't necessarily deal with IL2 or Cliffs of Dover all the time.
5. Political and religious discussions are prohibited.
6. Link to forum rules and regs ---> http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=21176
7. FAILURE TO not read the rules for the forums is NOT an excuse for violations.
8. All bans in the Pilot's Lounge will be for a minimum of 2 weeks first offense. If you have less than 50 postings and you post in this forums you may be banned for 6 months or longer, even you have made only one posting here. Again, less than 50 postings you must appeal to a mod for probation trial period use of the forums.
9. Mods will not run the boards looking for members with less than 50 postings. In fact, if you behave, contribute to the Pilot's Lounge in a sensible manner you will not be banned. If you are reprimanded on the Pilot's Lounge you will get a minimum 2 week ban.
Side Note:
Mods don't care about the posting count, except to say... if you have a low count and you are causing trouble you will join the ranks of the banned. No one is angry, just annoyed enough to remove those people.
There are posters that have low posting counts that are posting here in a civil manner, if any of these posters with a low count is a trouble maker it's good bye, sayonara. The low count is not the trigger.. the troublesome postings are.. and the low post count means they don't contribute to this community as a viable member.

Sorry, Nearmiss, but I think your rules are inconsistent, illogical, and counter-productive. You are retroactively punishing people for posting to a forum that you set up before you established the rules, imposing a ban that nobody can verify (how can I find out how many postings I've made to the CloD forums? I can't - I can only find out how many posts I've made to IC forums overall), and most likely setting a trap for newcomers who will visit the CloD forums to ask for advice, unaware of the restrictions in this particular forum. If posting here could be restricted through software, it would be fine, but this is arbitrary and badly-conceived. Yes, some idiots stepped in to create chaos, but that is no reason to react in such haste.
I could have responded to you in a PM, rather than replying here, but I think that everyone is entitled to see my opinion of this. I will assume (unless you wish to contact me by PM at the UBI forums, or at M4T), that I have been banned, and will no longer post at 1C. Frankly, I think that, for all the trolling, sniping and negativity I've seen here, this is the single most misconceived action I've witnessed. The sensible course of action would have been to delete the 'pilots lounge' forum in its entirety, and then establish rules before reopening it, in my opinion - with no further comment. Instead, you have provided the snipers and trolls with more ammunition. The correct course of action when you do something without thinking about the consequences and come to regret it isn't to do the same thing again....
Woah!
Way to go Andy!!
Not that I agree or disagree either way as I like to play it safe and prefer to reveal my comments behind peoples backs in a sneaky, greasy kind of way.
Nooo! Not really! Just kidding fellas!

Katy Perry are you kidding... Gorgeous gal, and who wouldn't enjoy her songs.
Straight talk guys. Off topic doesn't mean this is a link site to youtube.
I post a video every now and then to make a point or lighten up a discussion.
A full thread of youtube stuff is not off topic, it is completely out of line for our community.
Like I said... a video every now and then, even with some strange stuff is not a problem. Just don't create a pile links in a posting and certainly not a thread.
You want to post IL2 or COD videos... post as many as often as you like.
You can post war videos, pilot interviews, etc. Just think about the people that are members. Our members aren't into the biggest snake ever caught, or the man that ate his kids for kicking the dog.

Yeah, I seem to find myself in the same position. Mind you I haven't posted much here as I'm one of those apparently weird people that (whispers it quietly) enjoy CoD on my low end system and have patience and faith in the Devs...................shock, horror.

To be fair, the forum would have calmed down in a few days. It is brand new and in all honesty there isn't much to be discussed about CloD in it's current forum. A lot of people that popped up in this forum are community members that have been with Il2 and now CloD since the beginning so to say that they came from nowhere is a little off.
Yes there were some out of bound posts, but those could have been easily been dealt with on an individual basis instead of the sweeping decision to delete every post from people that haven't met an arbitrary number that doesn't reflect their actual contribution to this community as it is over 10 years old and spans across multiple forums.

This ^
But all the anal over-reaction is interesting too, considering the lack of anything to discuss in the main forum at this point.
And please don't be too hard on Mastiff since it's obvious he's ovulating right now and likely feeling a bit delicate.

Mods are volunteers not paid employees that sit at the computer hours on end trying to keep civility or better yet.. sanity in this forums.
Often a broad brush is mods best solution, because mods just don't have the time to make all the individual effort you seem to think is so easy.
People like yourself come here, have very short record of postings in this community and you know all about it.
We don't have time to ferret out who is who. If the poster is out of line or trolls we wouldn't know zip about him for the most part. Lets' see what exactly have you told us about yourself in your public profile.
I found nothing about you, except your IP address. It indicates Galgary,Alberta, which may be information worth something unless you are posting through a proxy. Anyway, you get the point.
No the 100 postings isn't the best solution. It has been changed to 50 postings overnight in an effort to be fair. Yet, mods don't care about the posting count, except to say... if you have a low count and you are causing trouble you will join the ranks of the banned.
Pretty simple criteria IMO.
In fact, this Pilot's Lounge was requested by members and it's not about embracing a whole new breed of members with a penchant for drawing attention to themselves with negative and troll postings.
The Pilot's Lounge is provided for our loyal members that want to have discussions with others that are off topic.
It also needs saying... our members in good standing have IL2 and Cliffs of Dover in common. The may have other interests by they are air combat simulation enthusiasts. That is the common thread that binds this community and persons that don't have these common interests are really not viable members of this community. Our members come to this forum to participate in discussions about their common interests.

I know a mod position is volunteer, my opinion is simply the same amount of effort to delete posts based on post count could have been used to moderate offending posts themselves.
I do disagree with the assertion that this community exists in this forums as a vacuum. CloD has been in development for over 5 years and is build on a very large community from Il2 that is over 10 years old. As CloD slow gestates into a viable sim more and more community members will be coming out of the woodwork, especially since the official forum space has moved from the zoo to here. To dismiss them as not loyal community members is a mistake, IMHO.
This forum appeared as a shiny new thing while many of us are in a holding pattern waiting for CloD to mature. The small posting frenzy would have blown over in a day or two as things settle down.
But all of this is IMHO and in the end it's your playground and your rules so I'll do my best to follow them.
