***Edited July 12th with latest patch from Vetochka***
Hi,
A number of campaigns have been written by russian gamers on sukhoi.ru
For those not reading russian (ie like me :-)), I translated them using google tools: a bit funny but understandable.
The first one is by Vetochka (original link http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=226) and is called Spitfires over Dunkirk. 16 quite original missions, with surprises, keeping your score through the campaign!
Here is the translated description:

Static campaign "Spitfire over Dunkirk"

By the anniversary of the start of "Operation Dynamo" campaign describes the events that are related to the evacuation of British troops from Dunkirk (Operation "Dynamo"). Period - end of May beginning of June 1940.

The final decision on the beginning of the evacuation was taken the evening of 26 May, the evacuation of 27 May, ie exactly back in '71 campaign has 16 missions. Airplane Spitfire player I. The player always leading the group of bots.
Features campaign:
The campaign can go on relatively low-end machines (at the expense of performance entourage). We tested the mission on our computer: AMD Athlon II X3, 4 GB, ATI HD4870 and AMD Athlon II X3, 4 GB, ATI HD6850, and here and there XP SP3.
Any significant sagging FPS can be expected over the industrial zone of Dunkirk (a feature the current version of the game probably be corrected in the next patch). In this mission are made so that the player is not seen directly above prom.zonoy city. Possible short-Freezes in the generation of new groups.
Assignments are often not formulated very clearly and the player is given the leeway. A lot of missions on the type of patrol zones.
Successful completion of this type of task is achieved in two ways - either with the passage of time spent in the area of patrol (usually 10 or 15 minutes) or by performing sub patrol (the shooting down of a certain number of enemy planes + passing the checkpoint).
All missions start in the air on the way to a combat zone. Check out the mission could not land after the inscription that "You can go home" or something like that.
Because of some features of the use of scripts at the end of the mission is always to the left will appear above the standard inscription "The failure of the Battle," no one should pay attention to it. The success or failure of the assignment, as well as the results of the mission and the campaign will report postfly briefing and the picture on the right side briefing. Due to the nature of the game you can continue to campaign even if the mission was killed by a player. So the decision to replay the mission or go to the next is up to the player.
Spitfire ammunition is small enough to spend it is recommended that very carefully, because counter the enemy's first group may not be the sole and not the evil. This is especially true of tasks, where the player must be accompanied by single aircraft. At the start of the mission immediately open the radiator, otherwise the engine is fast asleep will be covered.

The attached campaign file can be installed using the installer prepared by The EnlightenedFlorist, to be found here (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=23908).

If you try this, please share your impressions,

I've always wanted a dunkirk campaign... will this work with western (non RU) versions of the game?

It's great, thanks a lot for doing the translations. It is very well designed and the 'beta' game really has a hard time doing it justice. Here's results of my 1st mission I just finished (screenie attached). There is a problem with the game that causes all LW landed A/C to show as "killed". During the mission, as I was flying back to base, a message text popped up that showed we (RAF) had lost one, and the Gerries had also lost one shot down. Only thing that really matters is a whole lot of Spitfires were in the landing pattern at Ramsgate!!

I got it working by editing the campaigns.ini file:

[Main]
campaign_gb
campaign_de
campaign_dk

[campaign_gb]
folder campaign_gb
title Cliffs Of Dover
image Poster.bmp

[campaign_de]
folder campaign_de
title Adler Angriff

[campaign_dk]
folder campaign_dk
title RAF Dunkirk

The campaign installer seems to work fine (the one mentioned in the first post of this thread). If you use the installer you don't have to edit the .ini files manually.

The Spitfires over Dunkirk is a great campaign, much better done than any offline campaigns I've played so far.

Im about half way through the campaign... just finished the Sunderlands escort mission... it seems very accurate in some ways... the front lines, the battle around calais and dunkirk. I love how you captured the look of the distressed town with pillars of smoke rising into the air (something that many pilots commented on during the flights over dunkirk).

my only gripe really is all the airstarts and the spawning of all enemy planes in the air at random places (groups of planes appear outta nowhere, usually behind your group of fighters lol). the translations dont seem to cover all the the campaign several of the mission's briefings and debriefings have alot of russian in it and the prompts that pop up on the screen are sometimes completely in russain.

and on a side note I cant seem to find the orders to tell my wingmen to break off and fly for home.. many times now ive flown back to base with them in formation but when i go to land they stay right with me and crash into the ground when i land... its a bit frustrating.

but overall its a very worthwhile campaign!

I cant seem to find the orders to tell my wingmen to break off and fly for home.

the feature doesn't exist in CloD; nor any comms with ground except to request permission to takeoff.

thats a shame.... in the old il2 you could at least ask for permission to land, and even ask for a vector to home base!

As of right now it seems that you have to fly back to base and circle around until all your wingmen have landed before being called in to land... Also with this new patch they removed completely the orders to attack enemy planes (even though the commands didnt work when you tried using them)

this game still needs patching in that department :(

Radio commands are being redone according to the previous developer update. I guess they eliminated the ones that haven't been fixed yet from the menu to cut down on the amount of confusion, eg "if i tell my flight to change formation they do it, but if i tell them to attack a specific target they don't, what's happening?" ;)

In other words, i'm keeping my fingers crossed the rest of them will be added in the next patch.

As for landing, if the airfield is equipped with an airfield AI module (this is done in the FMB, in other words the campaign maker must have included this feature when building the missions for it to work) it will automatically start handing out landing clearances to your flight once you overfly it. It will also mark the active runway and direction with a "T" marker as the touchdown point, correctly taking into account the current wind conditions.

Your wingman will stay with you and fly low and slow while you land (and often stall and crash into you), so it's a good idea to engage autopilot and time compression until it's his turn to break off for his approach or you see the autopilot placing your own aircraft in the landing sequence. At that time you can go back to normal time, disengage autopilot and land as usual.

It's my fault the commands have been disabled. Sorry! Remember this?

Take a squadron of Hurri's over the channel, home base set to Manston. Set QMB alt to 100m. Fly N @ 10 ft ASL, when within 500 yards of the cliff, give order to squadron to RTB. Sit back & watch the show.

what, you mean watch the new and ultra realistic AI climb up and over the cliffs and land in an orderly fashion at Manston?

;)

Many thanks to all, I finally got round to installing the campaign. Enjoying it very much even though I have only completed the first few missions.

I am doing a mission where you have to attack waves of JU88s over Dunkirk....I was chasing the first wave (well, the first wave that I saw anyway) and as I was firing at them, the entire squadron just disappeared! literally, disappeared into thin air...I turned back toward the town and saw another group of 88s approaching...got into firing position, shot one enough that its wing ripped off and as it was plummeting to earth,it and its entire squadron of 88s vanished again! ... at the end of mission I got no kills credited so it did not register that I had ripped a bombers wing off.

Bug in the mission, or bug in the game? .. It was as if the planes "de-spawned".

That's by mission design, bombers disappear after they bombed Dunkirk, this is to avoid overburdening the game with returning bombers and still get many waves of them.
In the mission description, this is why you are told to kill bombers before the bomb dunkirk.
Explained on Sukhoi.ru by Vetochka, who did the campaign.

ok, thanks for the reply. :)

They don't have much time after they drop their bombs do they? LOL...bit of an immersion killer, but so be it. Enjoying the campaign anyway :)
