The game has improved a lot since the release version so ....

...they’ve been building a sim for ‘fullreal’ fanatics.
Thanks god its not another turn and shoot game like blazing angels etc etc.

A new review after US release is needed. Alot has happened.

They reviews the original release. Since magazines work 8 weeks ahead on pagination dates. I can understand the review is off the web but PC Gamer works in-line with their magazine copy dates so their review matches their print.

Personally I don't think it needs a re-review as they review on release and on release it was appalling. You could say that about any game that needs patching!

Personally I think more fool 1C for releasing a half baked product. Rather than pat them on the back and give them a better review now a load of patches have been released they should be judged on the initial 'to market' release. Hopefully one day these developers will see that releasing poor products is not the method.

You reap what you sow and hopefully this is a lesson for 1C.

Treat CloD as an interactive museum, a tool for setting up small photogenic skirmishes, and it’s marvellous. As a game, it’s much less successful.
Spot on.

Custom PC review (July(!) edition, just out) gave it a damning 35%, again reviewed using the UK release version before any patches. Whilst probably what it deserved in that state, it's sad to see this in print and anybody flicking thru the mag will give it an instant 'miss' :(

why is it everyone is still blaming 1C for that? It was ubisoft that caused that to happen. wanna blame someone, blame ubi.

The good thing is it's pretty obvious it's being worked on and constantly improved. I know I'm enjoying it, and I think it's going to turn into the ultimate WWII sim. It's very promising already ;)

Depends on what they have to work with i guess?

Can you make a Rolls out of a Volkswagen?

Should HamishUK be judged when he was 1 month old, or when he was a fully trained Jaguar pilot?

Same person.

Should he be judged? That depends - was he telling everybody he could fly Jaguars at 1 month old?

Please show me exactly where it states UBI is to blame?

That's the silliest thing you have said in a long time Jimmy and you have made a few over the last few years.

Comparing the above to that of a publisher who has a long history of computer games is utterly absured! If 1C was a new publishing house this I could accept but it is not! Seriously you have lost the plot...get a grip.

That is by a long margin one of the worst analogies I have ever read!

Been reading your posts since..what, 2001? 2002 all the way back to the pilots lounge, and cwos etc...

WTF, over? VFR pilots need to stay out of the clouds.

Back to topic:
This game has had some bad management for too long, and I'm a fanboy of team oleg- end of story- step back, take a breath, look at the long awaited game for what it is, not what could have, should have, might have been.

By sheer luck of being busy and overwhelmed with work and life; I hadn't ordered during the pre-release frenzy, and was bombarded by my friends as they got theirs, tweaked, patched and bemoaned the whole fubar. Now...I'm likely not to order for several months, if at all. Based on what I've seen, and read-

Depends if I'm paying him Rusks or a full fighter pilots wage.

How much discount did you get when you told Steam it was only a beta?

Because 1C was in charge, not Ubi.

Wanna blame someone, blame 1C.

I think 72% is overly generous for the first release without patches.

Sorry to say I haven't played CloD for a week now. There's nothing in it that draws me back to it, great FM, DM and graphics (most of it anyway) but just an absolute shell of a game. I'll wait for some third party campaigns to be released or an eventual campaign generator (not holding my thumbs on that one though) before I play this game again. I mean, tweaking a game isn't actually playing it, is it?:)
