...or would that be MP?I play almost exclusively SP ever since disasterous play online way back when( I'll leave that to your imagination...) but I have just rounded up a newbie to install & play CloD ( ATAG) and after he learns to land & take off etc. ,he says he wants to fly against me online .I don't think either one of us is capable of getting into one of those large fights involving 5-50 aircraft & surviving long enough to find each other. My question is :is there a way to play one on one? If so what do you recommend in terms of communication with each other .I used to know how to set this up but have forgotten.I don't want to make this too complex because quite frankly i don't think he is capable of much beyond the basics.I've been playing flight sims for years but he has never had one up & running,so you see its going to be a steep learning curve...can anyone offer a suggestion or two?

For comms I'd suggest teamspeak 3 and maybe just "borrow" an empty channel on some established server. I' sure a nice request to the ts admin would have them arrange one with password for you both only.

Then create a simple mission with 2 planes head on airstart.
Step 2 could see you spawn at the same airfield and do the whole startup/taxi/takeoff to let the tense build up :)

Host the server and let him join you.

Most of all, have fun up there.

I think you should get online on your own for a while and just have a scout around. Probably better for you to learn the ropes before getting your friend in there with you. Shouldn't take you long to figure out what's what.

It's been a while since I've played multi-player, but if you can't find an empty server for yourselves that no-one else is playing in at the time, there may well be a server running with a map that will allow you both to spawn on opposing sides and then go rendezvous somewhere away from the main action. Easier still if the server rules allow you to spawn at the same airfield and start shooting at each other without punishment.

Never used to be a problem going one-on-one outside of the main action like that, just the opposite in fact, with people always focused on struggling to find the main combat area, let alone looking for side action.

It all depends on the map and the difficulty settings really, but again, it's just a matter of getting in there and making it work for you, then getting your friend in there with you when you're familiar enough with the whole set-up that you can concentrate on helping them out as well.

It might not seem like it, but I expect it wouldn't be long before you're both flying together looking for other players to shoot down.

Actually, forget about the combat. One of the most thrilling and enjoyable things you can do online is to simply complete a 'mission' of your own. Just decide you're going to fly a round-trip to some point of your own choosing (preferably over enemy territory), and then try to do it, knowing you might be spotted by a real-life player and attacked at any time along the way. eg. load up a bomb on your fighter if possible, go drop it on an enemy airfield (or just do a strafing run if you can't carry a bomb), then get the hell out of there. Estimate how much fuel you'll need as well, so you run the risk of running out if you're not careful. The tension as you make it back to home base should be palpable.

Just remembered, as an example of making your own fun, here's a video from the first time I played 'Cliffs Of Dover' online -

Anyway, sorry for the long post, probably not that helpful, mainly wanted to encourage you to just get in there and make of it what you will.

If it's just you and a mate, use Skype for comms.

For a one on one, fly on the ATAG server, pick the most northerly airbase in England, or the most Southerly base in France and both fly the same aeroplane. Arrange to meet somewhere, then go and shoot at eachother.

If you want to fly against eachother on opposing forces, i.e. one Spitfire v one 109, you would need to set up your own local server, unless you are prepared to fly a very long way before encountering eachother, whilst avoiding all of the nasties in the English Channel.

The ATAG server is there. It's up to you how you use it.

Have fun. :)

ATAG Dutch thank you for suggestions, I really found it useful ;) you've saved lots of my 'acetaminophens (https://rxcoupons.org/coupons/bupap-acetaminophenbutalbital-coupons-discounts-cost/)'
