View Full Version : Track Playback issue

I recorded a short CEM take off and landing using Cross Country quick mission. Flew the Hurri and took off and everything went well. Did some fly overs of the airfield and landed without any issue.
However on playback of that same track after liftoff my motor cuts off and on over and over. Very annoying. I don't know what is happening it seems as if the fuel pump was going out kicking on and off. Upon touchdown the motor finally died.
It's not just you. Have seen the same thing from the initial release up through to the latest beta patch. Pretty much makes recordings of one's own flying unuseable. Should definitely be looked into at some point, especially if the developers want people to use the .trk files, and video's made from them, to show off the game for them.

Interestingly, you can stop this happening by turning off all CEM before recording the track.
Missing engine sounds for all planes but the players in playback is frustrating too ;)
I'm sure these will be fixed in time.
Cheers, Neil :)

I did notice that the track playback showed my mixture not in the same position as I had it throughout the flight after I readjusted it when warmed up. It was still in the rich setting during playback whereas it was bumped up during flight. May record both at the same time and post.

i dont really know if my post fits into that thread, but one thing i noticed with playing tracks, is that skins are not used.it will show the default ones, and not the one you actually used while recording.for example if i record a flight with a bf,the recorded track will always show the skin with the yellow nose, regardless which skin i actually used.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info, I could have been caught out big-time if I'd been relying on custom skins to show up in the recordings.
Thanks too Neil for the info about turning off the CEM before recording to avoid the revving bug, that could definitely come in handy.
In a similar way, I'm pretty sure too the engine revving doesn't happen when you switch the plane over to auto-pilot. Which isn't generally what you'd want to do, but in some circumstances it could be better than seeing and hearing the engine going berserk.
I've actually recorded the engine-revving bug, from external view, in this video (go to approx. 1:12-1:24) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbGTa03iJHw
The view of the plane on the left was recorded live, while the view on the right was recorded from a .trk replay. I just used the sound from the live recording (as the sound from the .trk file was obviously cutting in and out), but you can actually see the propellor of the plane on the right stopping and starting.
That visual indication in the prop of varying engine speeds, along with the sound of the engine revving up and down while in cockpit, pretty makes tracks recorded of your own flying, with CEM, unuseable. It's not some minor detail you can just ignore or overlook while watching the replay or video, it draws so much attention to itself as to become annoying and makes the replay or video unwatchable.
There are obvioulsy higher priority issues the devs need to deal with first, but as I said in my previous post, having replays working properly is essential for enabling the community to make video's that, apart from their main user-intended purposes, can also effectively promote and advertise the game, so it's not something that should be put too far back on the to-do list imo.
