View Full Version : Can we have a mappable axis for FOV please?

I'd love to assign FOV to the mini-stick on the CH throttle.

Right now you can hold a key and mouse back and forth to change FOV but that's really unwieldy when using a HOTAS setup. Right now I have it mapped to the brakes since I can't get them setup on the pedals for some reason (probably because the Hurricane doesn't have differential braking - I haven't really looked into it much yet but I digress...).

I think the mini-stick would work great since it snaps back to center which would make it useful for quick zooms without having to let go of the joystick to work the mouse.

Not a priority or anything but would be handy.

Why not head to the CH Hangar forum and ask one of the regulars to knock you up a script to achieve that? I do agree that it would be good to see a FOV axis at some point - but it's do-able in CH software ;)

A "toggle FOV" would do instead on having to assign a key to each FOV.

I use xpadder and binded couple joystick buttons to have click and mouse move events.

Works very well.

This is what I use for every sim I have....

I was using something similar on my 3 position Cougar AirBrake switch, for zoom while press. Permanent toggle sets to PgDn, neutral to End, temporary to Delete.

The ministick was assigned to mouse with progressive acceleration, click on it would force a quick recenter (on release), and pinkie shift + press would alternate shif+f1. I don't have the scripts in hand right now, but I can post them if anyone's interested (and not using the current TARGET software).

my solution is to combine trackir and binding the three fov´s to hotas bottons. To get the full range of fov on the zoom axis of trackir would be the better way.

I do like the current limited in-cockpit fov for normal flying but would also accept the option to hold a modifier keypress that, when held, allows you to zoom in and out with the TIR Z axis which would mimic squinting/focusing on a distant object.

Yes! Agreed!

It's actually quiet doable but depends greatly on your hotas and accompanying software set up,I have a TM warthog and using the t.a.r.g.e.t. software have the little pinky button on the bottom of the stick set as the hold button for zoom and the forward on the top hat switch on the side of the throttle set as forward mouse(zoom in) and the back on the hat switch as mouse back(zoom out)
it works quiet well and I'm pretty sure you can do it similarly with saitek software( I use to have an X-52 so I'm pretty sure about this) and most probably with the CH software (can anyone confirm?)
An axis would be a little easier but I find I can get by with this set up.

Unfortunately if your stick doesn't come with any programming software ya fairly screwed :/

If an axis is possible, I'd like one please!

I also own a Hotas Cougar and am searching for a good profile, can you post it, or send it to my mail ?
Thanks
