It is an early prototype of the Dassault Ouragan. The material it was constructed of was too flimsy so, during its first flights, its intake was distorted into an oval shape and its elevators fell off completely. Also the rudder disappeared leaving it with a sharp, pointy, rudderless fin. Realizing it would be useless for military purposes after being so mutilated, the French painted it bright yellow in the hope that it would be spotted and shot down as quickly as possible so they could be rid of it. They shipped it off to several of their colonies, but all the enemy would do was stand there and laugh at the bright-yellow "war" plane. So it was quietly retired to the museum where the above photograph was taken.

That is the Abrams Explorer by the Acme Aircraft Corp.
Which I had never heard of but it has that nice serial number so it took 5 seconds to find.

Is it a Curtis produced plane? Or Grumman? I might have an idea, if it's either one of these producers. :D

I think you're right, it does look like an Owl. I saw a photo of one recently that had a different landing gear, but that could have been a later modification. The Wildcat gear looks very similar to your Owl and had an extremely slow and awkward retract mechanism, the pilot had to turn a hand crank about 500 zillion times to bring it up.

It is the Mitsubishi "Harry" high altitude bomber interception fighter, which was intended to attack high flying B-29 and B-32 bombers. (The Convair B-32s only flew six missions before the war ended).
Only 50 "Harry"s were built and all were grounded eventually when the factory was totally destroyed by B-29s.

Does a little bit. But the MiG-15 doesn't have as great of a view for the pilot as the Sabre, and the Sabre doesn't have such a tall tail like the MiG. Which for the MiG was a plus and a minus.
Im assuming just by looking that the Sabre could out roll the Mig-15 then?

Technically the ekranoplan flies.. It uses ground effect to just skid over the surface. It needs water to take off, but can fly over ground just as well, as long as it's flattish.
Ahhh so its more economical and faster that a boat then? Nice!
Edit: Vought XF5U? or the 'flying pancake'?

Ahhh so its more economical and faster that a boat then? Nice!
Nope :P. It needed so much power to overcome the drag in the water and actually get up in the air that it proved to be inefficient. The idea is good though.
Look up the Caspian Sea Monster. It needed the engines just to take-off. It needed less than half of that power to maintain flight once established.
EDIT: Yup.
Yeh, it would be better if you optimised the engines so they worked better at 45% say.

Convair B-36 "Peacemaker"..... the piston engines suffered from overheating pronlems because of the pusher arrangement.
The jets were to assist take off and climbing to altitude when burdened with maximum payload. Once at the desired altitude they were shut down to conserve fuel.
The aircraft had two seperate fule systems for each engine type.
Some carried a Lockheed Goblin in tests or F-84 as a "parasite fighter" during the Korean War.

pussher props also had another problem
like with jets they had a higher stalling speed cos the prop pushes air over the wing faster than the air speed with a jet or pusher prop that doesnt happen

I'm not quite sure I believe that, it looks like maybe the rotor broke so they had to reattach it with a giant nail.
The longbow will be in trouble if it encounters enemies with flying hammers.
An aircraft with a funny hat deserves to be followed by one with a funny name:

No idea but did you hear the F-35 plans were stolen?
Some of the info was heisted via computer espionage, or something like that... but not all of it. It had something to do with lax security because of multiple countries having access to the information.
But in the case of the plane above, ALL the plans were stolen, in one of the biggest spy operations of the 20th century. That should be enough of a dead giveaway. If anyone gets mad when they figure it out, at least it's not an obscure prototype, and it is a different plane from the plans.
I think the f-35 plans may as well have been stolen, I believe it's an ill-conceived plane. The US DoD is always banking on multirole planes, the f-18 is a good one but the JSF as a plane that can do everything ends up with flaws in every department. In particular, the US has plenty of big carriers and it's not so vital to have a VTOL plane that can also fight, by adding the VTOL they had to weaken its fuselage to make the weight specs. So it's vulnerable to hits and flak, as currently designed, and it has no answer to the orbital-vectored thrust of the 4.5-generation Russian planes and upcoming PAK-FA.
They expect air combat to be all about beyond-visual range and avionics in the future, they thought the same thing in the 60's and it didn't work. Except when it's not a big war.

Gotta agree about the F-35. What good is a VSTOL combat plane if you can't get fuel, ammo, MTX and other support to it in the field? Are they planning on flying all that stuff to it by helicopter or V-22?
Has the F-22 been cancelled or just reduced in number? Seems like there's a squadron in Langley that's already flying the thing. It is a bad assed plane, but I personally don't feel like paying for it. What's it going to fight that can't be dealt with by a few updated F-15s ?

Better known not as the 'Russian B-29', but the actual Soviet designation 'Tu-4 Bull'. :D
