LOL sorry mate. I saw your above post and just had to have a guess. I was quite easy to tell to be honest. At a glance you can see the resembelance to the mighy Avro Lancaster, so narrows it down a little.

Just for you though.... i'll let you take credit and post the next pic ;) lol

At first i glanced at it and immediately saw the twin tail and thought B-24. While i was out i was thinking it was one of the Avro series but just kept thinking i cant be that obvious. Theres always next time ;)

Now i just gotta get yours correct and im done

took a while :( i had to play on the Osprey approach and take it from their and see where it lead me. Wasn't easy. Modern jets/helicopters really are not my thing haha. They just sound loud and boring (except the huey) i love the sound of a merlin or griffon.

With the way the engine is placed, and the body all together; I'd have to agree with Flynlion that it's a Grumman FF-1 Biplane. If not, then it's got to be a F2F-1 or 2, but the engine isn't fitted right to be either of those.

It's definitely American, because I don't know of any British biplane that was made for the US Navy in the late 20s early 30s. :P

EDIT: And I think those are actually Canadians checking it out? They apparently did use them for a time.

Ha! US navy pilots called the FF-1 "Fifi", but I think it was the Canadians who called it the Goblin. I do love that picture "hmmm, what did I forget this time?"

So am I the only one on the forum who likes homebuilts? Nobody wants to try a guess at my pics?

flynlion

So I've stumped the Foz and P-51? Then my work here is done.....

It's called the Jaguar, by Prowler Aviation. I first saw (and HEARD!) one fly at the Oshkosh fly-in many years ago and have wanted one ever since. Check out their website:

http://www.prowleraviation.com/

I love homebuilts. Military stuff is fine but anyone can build a nice airplane if they spend enough money. Homebuilts are made on a limited budget with craftsmanship, dedication and LOVE. Guess I shouldn't give the Prowler people too much credit since they obviously pinched their ideas from the Spit, Mustang and a dozen other warbirds from the 40's (sorry Juz1 I couldn't resist).

Who wants to post our next plane?

Only the most beautiful aircraft ever made, and in that particular colour and markings of 17 squadron RAF, 1940, of pilot officer harold bird-wilson who had 6 confirmed kills in the battle of britain.

He was shot down over the thames though on the 24th september 1940, becoming adolf gallands 4oth victim :(

he survived the shooting down and lived on until his death in august 2000 aged 80 :(

Nope, it's not the He-162 Volksjäger.

Only one prototype was completely constructed I believe. It was imagined as a jet powered successor to the Stuka, and the pilot lays in a prone position to better withstand g-forces. This also gave it a reduced frontal area, so it was planned to use it as an interceptor as calculations showed that the probability of being hit by defensive guns was largely a function of this.

I why is that one not in BoP ?

Yep Messerschmitt Me 309, an attempt to replace the 109.

I think there were only about 4 prototypes constructed. It underperformed during trails and the Fw-190 was the better option at the time. Not that you would think it from playing Birds of Prey mind you.

As silly as this may sound.... im going to guess its a B17.

The wreck looks a mess and very compact, so it could be mistaken for a twin engined plane, but "some" parts look very much like a B17, most notably the tail fin and a little of the fuselage from the tail fin, forward.

Its 4:30am though, and im tired so thats just a random guess really. Will have a proper look tomorrow afternoon :D

Got me at first to. Another quick look and i can say i definately DONT think its a B17, the wings are just a little to high up the fuselage for a B17 (Ever so slightly).

Second guess.....

Maybe japanese, but then again the surrounding are doesnt look very much like it belongs in the pacific. It looks more like european type of forest... could be very wrong though.
