Fellow Pilots:
Yesturday I received a replacement for my Saitek Pro Flight Pedals. Why did I get a pair of Pro Flight Combat Pedals when I allready had the Pro Flights? Because I was bored. Let me just say that there never was anything wrong with my Pro Flights. They were sturdy, they were adjustable in size, they were just great. So I bought the Combat pedals to see if Saitek could improve on a beautiful thing. And guess what? They did indeed. The new pedals came in a suicide bomber proof box that protected them on thier long journey. They came out the box and the first thing I felt was, Uhhhhhh METAL, Ahhhh a new "base". The extra piece that holds them to the floor is also improved and real metal. And speaking of holding them to the floor, there are eight holes to screw them to a wooden base or floor(if you dont mind your dad kicking you out the house). I choose to screw them into the carpet.(I am an adult and live alone ha ha). If you dont have carpet I suggest double sided tape from WalMart. If you do have carpet use the plastic side of velcro stips. Use a bunch of it. WalMart is your friend... The base is wider and I feel like my feet are further appart and more free. The price I pay for this freedom is hard to define. Instead of having my feet "in" the pedals they feel more like they are on top of the rudder bars. I can only put my feet on the pedals themselvs to actuate the brakes. So I feel like my feet are on a foot pegs like my moto. The pedals move quite a bit easier than the Pro Flights and thus my 109 ended up on its nose. Its a feel thing... I will do better, I promise. Are they better then? YOU BET THEY ARE! The feel is hard to explain but they are more solid and roomy. They will however take some getting used to. So there it is. Better for a price but different. Oh and by the way, they look the NUTS! Have a great day pilots.

I wanted to get these as I don't really like my CH Pedals anymore. They are too close together and are very easy to move.
Problem is they don't fit in the pedal area of my Obutto gaming cockpit they are too wide I guess. |

I forget where I read that Cheese,
Maybe over at SimHQ? But my CH pedals right now in the Obutto have about only 1.5" of space on each side. I'm fairly tall (6'1") so maybe it's just because I have my pedals further back. There's more space if you would pull them forward, but then I'm too far from my monitor. Obutto is GREAT though. Best simrig for the price. I do a lot of racing sims as well so it's great to have something that's comfy to sit in and I can switch from flying to driving mode fairly easily. I love flying with my joystick mounted center too between my knees like most WW2 planes and the Obutto has an adapter you can buy to do this, it works great. |

Wow nice! I stand corrected.
Are the pro combat pedals any wider than the standard Saitek pedals then? Those are the ones I was interested in. |

Probable no, since they use the same base (and eletronics).

Sokol1, sorry to disagree with you. The Combat pedals feel wider. You dont put your feet "in" them like you do the Pro Flight. They feel a bit more comfy. Just my opinion. As I said in my original post, they take some getting used to...
Oh, Darn nice Pit you got . Maico

Wow the pro combats look much larger! Think I'll be sticking with my CH pedals for now.
